My husband and I originally stayed at La Marina in 2009 and returned with family in July 2012. We stayed in the available apartment and had another wonderful stay. Apartment had 2 rooms and full kitchen Clean enviroment, exceptional views, excellent service from Christian as always. If you are visiting Cinque Terre for a few days these really are exceptional accomodations and Christian makes you feel comfortable and right at home. Booking the room is always easy and communication with Christian is timely, and efficient. Looking forward to my return.

I stayed in the single room at La Marina rooms, and was very pleased with everything. The owner, Christian, met me at the train, and walked me to the room. The single room is small with a private bath and access to a shared balcony with a great ocean view. The price was reasonable (60 euro per night) for this clean, comfortable room. The persons staying the in the more spacious double rooms were all very happy, too. I was also able to reserve the room only 3 weeks from my vacation trip. Christian was very helpful and speaks fluent English.

There is a fairly steep uphill climb to the rooms, but this is true of most places in the Cinque Terra villages. I highly recommend La Marina Rooms.

I can't say enough nice things about Cristian and the La Marina Apartment. The apartment is beautiful and spacious with 2 queen beds in separate rooms (the master does not have a door but is set nicely apart from the rest of the apartment) and a large bathroom with a nice shower. The kitchen is stocked and easy to use- we made a meal in one night and it was very easy to do. One couch and a 4 person kitchen table complete the apartment. Then there are the VIEWS!!! The terrace is amazing with a table and chairs, plus two small seats off to the side for gazing over the sea. We were out there the majority of the time we spent at the apartment. Cristian is a big help with the luggage and helping you figure out the town and was always available via cell phone. What a host! Flexible check in and check out (off season stay) and reasonable rates. I would HIGHLY recommend this place to anyone looking for that wow factor. And, if you can't get enough TV (we had sports fans along), he has a 2000 channel international TV in the apartment as well.

Room Tip: Master suite has the sea view, but the other room is more private

After not being able to stay in our usual place due to the floods last year, Cristian's rooms were recommended to us for our annual trip to Vernazza. Our room was huge and had a lovely view out over the village. The balcony was great and provided a welcome space to relax in the sun with a drink after our hikes. Cristian was so helpful and friendly and it was great to chat to him about Vernazza and the recovery efforts of the past year - his experiences were heart warming and truly inspirational. Great place to stay, would highly recommend it!

We stayed in Room No. 1 (town view) for the last 2 nights of our honeymoon and it was amazing! Christian was great and very responsive throughout our stay and the booking process. The room itself was great, very clean, fairly spacious and with a comfy bed. The town view is pretty tough to beat and the shared balcony was amazing. We watched the sun set from the balcony both nights we stayed there and even shared several bottles of wine with the other guests who were staying the the adjoining rooms. The wine glasses and opener were thoughtful additions to the well apportioned room.

So how great was Christian? Well, he tracked us down Saturday afternoon to let us know that there was likely going to be a train strike on Sunday, but that he'd get us out of there. Sure enough the train strike was going forward on Sunday and we had a flight to catch in Genoa later that afternoon. Going out of his way to make sure we got out of Vernazza okay, Christian borrowed a friend's boat and took us to Monterosso Sunday morning in time for the single train that would be running that day. Talk about above and beyond! Without Christian helping us out I don't know if/how we would have gotten out of Vernazza and made our flight.

There's not much one can write about Vernazza that hasn't already been written, but it is truly a great town. Our days sitting by the water in Vernazza were my favorite of our honeymoon. We will certainly be back and will give Christian and La Marina Rooms a call when we do!

My husband and I loved this place. Our room faced the village which was beautiful and fun to watch the village as it is living art. Then we could walk thru a hallway to a balcony of the Ligurian seascape. Stunning! We watch the sun come up and watch the sun go down. There are tables on the balcony so we could dring wine and have some local cheese and olives. Cristain was wonderful and helpful and charming. The walk is high and up...just take it slow and you will be fine. The walk is worth the room and view. Our room was large which surprise us. Bathroom was great! Food Vernazza is wonderful. Don't miss Tuesday market day.

Room Tip: There are no bad rooms here!

We absolutely loved our stay at the La Marina Rooms.

The room was very basic but clean. We chose it for location, location, location. And we got location!

We stayed in the seaside view room. It also had a view of part of the village as well. The sunsets from the balcony were wonderful. Also the sound of the waves to sleep by!

We did not have any trouble with the mattress being hard in this room.

As mentioned before there are a lot of very steep stairs to get to the apartment. If you have mobility problems you could not do it for sure. We counted 102 steps. The last ones were very, very steep.

Christian recounted some of his experiences the day of the flood. It was very emotional for him to relate. He was instrumental with many others in saving many lives. He also lost a very dear friend, an elderly man he had breakfast with every morning. Every time he hears the rain it brings back the memories and anxiety.

Materially he lost a lot as well. His property where his garage was is now gone along with the garage, his brand new car and his boat. He watched the car (with no flood insurance) wash down the river.

As I was listening to him I thought of the review that mentioned that he was rude and belligerent the day after the flood. I totally understand after listening to him tell of his horrors during the flood. I would hope they can understand and have mercy on him for that day! Major trauma in his life and village!

We found him to be a very good host and hope the very best for him and Vernazza in their continuing recovery. STAY IN VERNAZZA and help them recover!

While in the Cinque Terre we met a young couple with a small child. It was getting late and cold and they still had not secured a room. I called Christian and within minutes he had made arrangements with someone in the village to provide them a room.

I would recommend the room and would definitely return!

Note: Our friends stayed in the seaside apartment and loved it. Not quite as many steps to the apartment....80ish. and not as steep as ours.

Room Tip: Choose the seaside view room! You might have to book early to secure it but it is worth it!
