It's an unique experience to visit Cinqueterre. Seems like a land from the Middle Ages, with beautiful houses ( full of colour), beautiful Ligurian sea and best sea fruits.

On our last day in Cinque Terre, my husband and I came across Cinque Terre Dal Mare boats in Riomaggiore. We were able to rent a boat spur of the moment for a very reasonable price and see the Cinque Terre from the water. It was a great find and a great way to end our trip!

The Cinque Terre (Land of Five Hills) is a group of five villages along the coastal line of Laguria, Italy. They are : Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore. Cinqueterre is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You must have at least two nights at your disposal to enjoyfully this beautiful place .
These villages are connected by Paths, Trains and Boats. Cars cannot reach there from the outside. There are only a few roads into the Cinque Terre towns where cars can run.
Do Not take your car there, and go by train, as we did from Milan, by a direct intercity train. All the five villages are well linked by local trains running from La Spezia to Genoa towns, and the trains run at regular interval. The tracks run most of the distance in tunnels between Riomaggiore and Monterosso , and on several occasions give you a glimpse of the sea from the train as and when there comes a gap between the tunnels. Passenger ferry also runs between the five villages, except Village Corniglia.
We preferred to take walking trail connecting the five villages. The trail from Riomaggiore to Manarola is called "Love Walk" and is wheelchair-friendly. Most of the tourists put a lock in the chain on this pathway believing their love is now locked.
You will find nice sea food and Local vine Named Cinque Terre vine to satisfy you.
Do not forget to buy Pesto from this place - a sauce made from basil leaves, garlic, salt, olive oil, pine nuts and pecorino cheese. When you go to the town of Corniglia, you must taste "miele di Corniglia," Gelato, made from local honey. Nearby Cinqueterre, you can also visit two beautiful towns named La Spezia and Porte Venere.
Good and comfortable Walking shoes are a must to enjoy walking pathways.

We took a boat first to Porte Venere the to Riomaggiore. From there we walked to Mantarola, an easy walk. Then boarded the boat to go to the other 2 small fishing villages in the Cinque Terre. A train ride back to La Spezia completed our day.

Francesco was very friendly and helpful - we rented a small boat (really tiny, 4hp!) and had a nice swim some 15min away from the village- I recommend it warmly if you want to swim in the crystal clear waters surrounding the village!
