This 'restaurant' was recommended by our hotelier so off we went with high expectations. The location was superb and the decor warm and inviting.
We ordered the two selection appetizers. The 5 anchovy and the 7 seafood selection. My anchovy dish was faultless and plentiful. Husbands 7 seafood was hit and miss. Some of the seafood was rubbery and possibly at the end of its tether.
The wine we left to the waiter for choice as he should know. We were excited as it was a local white that he picked. He poured it without allowing a taste. And well, battery acid would have been a better choice. We later found out when we got the bill that it was also one of the most expensive on the menu.
For the second course hubby had the fish main. It was undersized and coated in lumps of salt, with little to no sauce. I had the rabbit which was well over cooked, I could have bounced it off of the floor. It lacked flavour and had no sauce. Not only that but each meal was served cold.
There was a lovely Hungarian couple to our left who rightly so were not impressed with the portion size of their fish dish,(same one as hubby's). The made a valid complaint and asked to order something else. The mood of the waiter changed from semi cheery to down right rude. Ignoring the couple outright. Worst is that unless you wanted something else it was a walk to the town then back up the hill. As the shuttle bus finishes at the early hour of 7:30
We could not help but to give our understanding to the couple. I only wish that I had food for them.
As a tourist and a chef, I would say stay well away from this place!!
A bad first night at Cinque Terre but at least we know where not to go.
