What an amazing place to stay! This hotel has a fantastic view of the town of Monterosso and the sea. Our room had a balcony with table and chairs to sit and enjoy the view. There are stairs to get up to the hotel but they were really not difficult - we were carrying backpacks and had no problem. We loved having wine and appetizers on the terrace. Giovanne was so friendly and welcoming and my husband enjoyed learning some Italian from him. Breakfast on the terrace was delicious. Our room was very clean and comfortable. Hope to come back and stay at this hotel again someday!

We were greeted at the top of the stairs by Lorenzo who walked us directly to our room. Within the first 5 minutes, we were sipping some wine on their patio, overlooking the city/coast and Giovanne (Lorenzo's father) brought us a huge plate of fresh cut fruit to welcome us. The view from the room was breathtaking and the room was very modern and clean. Truly home away from home.

Room Tip: Try to get a room with view (or balcony)

It's not funny to carry 20kg suitcase to climb steep narrow stairs, but the view from balcony is simply stunning. The day we arrived at Monterosso, the weather was pretty wild, I dared not even open the balcony door. The room is simply decorated, tidy, very clean, after mid night, the wind magically stopped. Next morning, sun shone in, and different shades of blue...... Thank for those stairs! We were there early Oct., it's quite cold already. Having breakfast set on Terrace, the airs crispy, and fresh. Manuel's father is kind and generous, every time when we left for the sightseeing, he always prepared either fruits or water to ask us to take for our 'long' day. :)
It's about 10 min walk to station, easy to access other 4 towns.
Definitely recommend this beautiful attic of Monterosso.

Staying at Manuel's Guesthouse was our third stop in Italy. I was tired, getting a little homesick and grouchy at the aspect of taking all of those stairs to our B&B. Well, I did it with a few breaks along the way and I would not trade our wonderful stay here for anything (stairs and all!). I'm not the fittest chick around and my husband and I not only stayed at this fabulous B&B but hiked from Monterosso to two other villages for one of our day trips (there are 5 all together you can usually walk/hike to but the last two were closed off due to recent landslides). So, you know you stay at this B&B and you face the stairs every time you leave for dinner or whatever but you know what, it was a non-issue. Lorenzo recommended FABULOUS places to eat. Giovanni was absolutely adorable and a warm, wonderful face to see first thing in the morning for breakfast on the terrace. Giovanni doesn't speak much English and we don't speak any Italian but we had conversations and laughs just the same - priceless. I recommend this stay if you are considering Monterosso on one of your stops and the old town where this B&B is located fit our personalities more than the new town did.

This quaint, beautiful little B&B overlooks the entire town of Monterosso and the view alone is worth a 5 star review. Fortunately, that view is accompanied by comfortable, clean rooms, delicious breakfast, and some of the nicest people (and cats!) that we met on our Italy trip. The stairs aren't as bad as they may sound in other reviews - if you're here to hike the Cinque Terre, you're prepared to get in a lot of exercise regardless.

Couldn't recommend this B&B enough - a great stay in one of the greatest locations on Earth.

Important note - the place is cash only, so make sure you have enough euros on hand!

Manuel's sits atop Monterossa al Mare with a beautiful view of the harbor and sea. It is not for the faint of heart or out of shape as it takes about 100 stairs to reach this little gem. Giovanni, Manuel's brother, does the preparations for breakfast. The food is plentiful, the meat platter overflowing, fruits and breads and pastry, wonderful coffee round out one delicious breakfast. A great way to start the day. Take your time and think about what you will need for your day. Bring all you need when you leave in the morning because forgetting anything means a hike up the 100 steps to retreive. Not a good idea unless you are a mountain goat.

The Cinque Terre has so much to offer that our three days there was over before we knew it. With hikes to the other towns (strenuous), all the lemoncello to taste, the delicious seafood to be devoured, it was a joy to kick back on the terrace in the evening, enjoy cold beers and red and white wine at the outdoor bar maned by the ever friendly Giovanni.

Driving to Monterossa al Mare during a driving rain storm was an adventure over the twisting mountain road, parking a real pain (we opted for the covered parking garage) and bring our gear up to the B & B difficult, I would not have traded the experience for anything. The nightime view from the terrace was magical, our room very clean, Giovanni charming and wonderful. A great place to enjoy life, a great place to enjoy your vacation.

Room Tip: The room with the view of the harbor was well worth the extra cost.

Manuel's Guesthouse is a gem of a place set high above the old town. To reach it, you must climb about 100 steps, but the views and solitude are worth it. My partner and I stayed in one of the two grand-view balcony rooms. What a knockout view and balcony space to enjoy it!

The breakfast on the terrace is also amazing. You can help yourself to cereals, fruit, yogurt, and fabulous focaccia bread. Giovanni (Manuel's brother) fixes the cappuccino (or cafe Americano) and will also offer a plate of prosciutto. Breakfast was definitely more than just the usual coffee and pastry.

There is also a bar on the terrace where you can order a glass of wine or beer to pass the time while relaxing and enjoying the view. Giovanni was always there with a smile.

I hope to stay here again on a future visit. This is a cash only establishment, so make sure you have plenty of euros on hand for your stay.

Room Tip: There are six rooms at the guesthouse, but only two have grand-view balconies. Ask for one of these...
