“Great location, clean, friendly and good value!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 25, 2013

We booked last minute so we didn't have many choices, but I'm so glad this was available. The location really is in walking distance from the train station. Out of the station ,go right, then first street turn right and it it's on your left. The hotel as very clean, had good breakfast, with excellent coffee, grocery store 2 doors down, the beach was a few paces more. Monterosso has (in my opinion) the best beach in Cinque Terre if you prefer sand beaches...others are very rocky! It's a 10 minute walk to the old town and lots of great restaurants. Location was excellent, just off the grid enough to be quiet and close enough for conveniences...like gelato! Corrina, Diego and all the staff were very pleasant and helpful!

We've been there for 4 nights. From outside the impression is not so good, but inside is very nice. We have had a room with a small terrace (unluckily with sight on a wall) with clothes rack, table with two chairs, small bathroom but with all the necessary stuff, bedroom big enough, TV with SKY.
Breakfast good and very rich, staff very smart and helpful. I've had the necessary to scan a document and send it via mail and they gave me the possibility to do it without any additional cost.
The last day you have to free the room at 10:00 am, but we leave it at 10:30. Staff gave us the possibility to leave out baggage in the breakfast room so that we could go to the beach even in the last day and when we came back they offered us the possibility to use a service bathroom for having a shower with new towel and change our clothes. All this for free. Extremely good service.
The only unconfortable things is the distance form the historical city centre (that is anyway reachable in 10 minutes by foot). The hotel is very near to both free and private beaches, bar, resturants and a supermarket.
Very near to the station, but we could not listen to the noise of the train.
If you pay with cash you have a 5% discount. We spent 500€ for a double room for 4 nights.

Stayed here 2 nights. The room was clean and tidy but a bit on the small side for 3 people- triple room was a standard double room with a temporary single bed. Single bed was bearable but not amazing (although after 2 days of August heat and Cinque Terre sightseeing I was so exhausted that it made no impact on my sleep).

Walls were a little thin, again not an impediment to my sleep but if you are a light sleeper or unlucky with your neighbours it could be an issue.

Breakfast was ample with fruit, meat & cheese, baked goods and barista coffee.

Hotel staff were friendly, the lady doing check in speaks perfect English if you need help figuring out trains etc. Overall I was very happy with my stay.

We spent three nights in Hotel Punta Mesco at the start of August 2013. Given that I booked late, it was one of the few affordable options available for that period. The staff, especially the man at reception, were very friendly, and the fact that the hotel had parking was absolute bliss. The hotel was very centrally located (about 100 meters from the closest beach). Despite these three things I thought the hotel was a bit overpriced for what you get - we paid €125 per night and this was including the 5% cash discount. This is too much if you consider the facilities of the hotel (noisy rooms, bedding could be better, breakfast lacked in decent breads).

Room Tip: We stayed in room 2 and had no trouble with train noise which other TA reviewers mentioned - just so...

We spent 3 nights at Punta Mesco. The hotel is basic and clean, but small. It's not the type of hotel where you want to relax and spend the day in, rather a place to shower, sleep and breakfast.

The breakfast is simple and adequate.

The free parking was vital for us as parking in Monterosso can be difficult. We simply parked our car for the three days and travel Cinque Terre by train and on foot.

The staff was the highlight of the hotel. All the staff we encountered were extremely helpful and friendly. They have all the information we need for our travel around CT, and they also assisted us with making reservations with restaurants. Consider this is a family run hotel with limited staff resources, they truly went out of their way to make our stay pleasant.

The hotel might be a 3 stars hotel, but that didn't stop the staff from performing a 5 star service.

When we arrived into Monterosso train station we only had a short 7 minute walk with all of our luggage the family run Hotel Punta Mesco. As we arrived the staff were fantastic, very friendly and helpful. Our room had all the basic amenities required, the room would only be used to have a shower and sleep. Breakfast was great, choices included cereal, toast, croissants, panettone, fresh cold meats and fresh fruit. Of course there was free choices of coffee, expresso, cappuccino and caffe latte. Hotel in walking distance to water front with many restaurants to choose from, a 15 minute walk through the tunnel into the old town of Monterosso is a must. Hotel Punta Mesco also run a restaurant in the old town of Monterosso called Ristorante Belvedere, food was fantastic with a wide choice of foods. You receive a 10% discount because you are staying at the Hotel Punta Mesco.

We had a wonderful stay at this lovely small hotel just steps from the beach and train station! It is clean and well kept with a nice outside area for wet shoes and towels from the beach. The walk to the station was convenient and the hotel staff were extremely accommodating with beach towels, etc. Monterosso is a perfect location for exploring the Cinque Terre and highly recommend it.
