“What a marvelous hostess”
Reviewed June 29, 2012

My wife and I recently stayed at La Poesia with our 2 adult daughters for two nights. Nicoletta is a very very special and caring host and made us feel so welcome from the moment we arrived. The 2 rooms were superb and the breakfasts wonderful. Make sure you spend time under the lemon trees to soak up the atmosphere. Monterosso is a very special place made even more special by Nicoletta. We highly recommend La Poesia and will return.

What a wonderful experience! La Poesia manages to be close & convenient to the beach and great restaurants (Il Pozzo - magnifico!), yet it also gives a very local feel as you walk down a charming narrow street to get to the 17th century building. Recently redone...decor is tasteful & lovely...Nicoletta could just as easily be a decorator as a hostess! Her talents are many...the breakfasts on the beautiful terrace were divine. An absolutely perfect stay...we arrived as strangers & felt that we departed as family friends. Thank you, Nicoletta, for everything!

Nicoletta was a wonderful hostess and the Giglo Rosso room we stayed in was perfect for our needs. If you ate everything that was offered for breakfast the waistline would expand very fast. Positioned in a quiet side street in the part of town away from the train station it is magical once the day tourists evacuate Monterosso of an evening. The accommodation is a short walk from the station but Nicoletta is happy to send a taxi to collect you and your luggage from the station. The walk isn't that strenuous and unless you have heavy bags is no problem. The terrace where you have breakfast is open for the guests to use all day and is a wonderful spot to relax of an evening with a bottle of old Barolo and a slice of cheese and fruit. The romantic glow from the lights below reflects of the painted homes giving a relaxing ambience that's hard to break free from. Definitely stay in Monterosso don't just visit it during the day. Absorb the serene environment once the day trippers leave and you can appreciate the full Cinque Terre atmosphere.

Recommended by good friends. Nicoletta and her family greet you like family and ensure your stay is VERY Italian. Easy walk from train station and in the centre of Monterosso. Exceptional breakfast on the balcony at 8:30am and a chance to meet fellow travellers. Very private and very clean! We stayed for only 2 nights and have planned to go back and stay longer next time.

Nicoletta provides an extraordinary welcome, breakfast, and service. We had our expectations exceeded continually in our stay here, and didn't want to leave. If you're staying in Cinque Terre, (and you should!), I would recommend staying here to anyone. One note; try to set a semi-firm arrival time as Nicoletta likes to welcome her guests extravagantly and it must take her some prep time. She will probably offer a (free) cab ride from the train to her rooms, but the walk is very nice Horta so short, and we enjoyed it.

We stayed in La Poesia for 4 nights. A real indulgence, Nicoletta was great. Her worm welcome, with wine and pastries, was a pleasent surprise.
Monterosso is the nicest place to stay in Chinque Terre. It's not the most beautiful (Vernaza wins this title easily) but it's ths most lively one.
We shall definitely be back to Monterosso and stay in La Poesia.
