Hotel Villa Steno
Certificate of Excellence

I stayed four days at the Hotel Villa Steno and, as always, it is absolutely the best hotel for service, comfort, food, cleanliness, and hospitality.
First of all, the locale with its' balconies provides wonderful views of the town and sea. While close to the center of town, it is far enough up the hill to enjoy the peace and serenity of the area of the Cinque Terre.
Rooms: I have stayed in a single room, double room, and a room for four. All have been very clean, modern, air conditioned, with closet space, a small refrigerator and a tray with hot water maker for coffee or tea. Almost all rooms have a balcony with a view toward the sea.
Hospitality: Carla and Matteo could not be more generous and knowledgeable hosts. You feel as though you are welcomed into their home rather than just a hotel. The front desk staff has always been friendly as are the cleaning staff and those who help with breakfast. Information about the area is provided through brochures and personal directions and suggestions from Carla, Matteo and the staff.
Breakfast: A wonderful assortment of meats, cheeses, breads, cereals, yogurt, fruit, homemade coffee cakes, fresh and flasky croissants, juices, and fantastic cappuccinos, as well as other hot beverages.
Terrace: A terrace above the hotel offers day or evening enjoyment of wonderful views with chaise lounges, an outside shower to rinse off, and peace and quiet.
I cannot recommend or praise this hotel and its proprietors highly enough. It is my all time favorite in Italy!

Room Tip: Book early and ask for a room with a balcony with a view

We recently stayed here during our honeymoon in May. This was my first visit to Cinque Terre and figuring out which town to stay in was quite the ordeal. But after much research on TripAdvisor, I was able to narrow it down to Monterosso and then eventually to this gem of a hotel.

The location is great! It's a bit further from the sea, but you are literally steps away from the main town walkway; so you're right next to restaurants, shops, everything. It's only a 10 minute walk into the area where the train station is too, so really convenient.

The room is shaped a bit awkward, but it works, just be careful, as I slipped and bruised my whole backside in the shower due to the awkward shape and mismatched flooring!! Ouch! We weren't able to secure a room with a sea-view unfortunately, (tip: book early!), but we did have a view of the town and it was nice to have a private balcony to relax on. The room was very clean and the best comfortable.

The customer service was wonderful. Upon entry, we were greeted with cold wine and snacks to enjoy on their rooftop, panorama-view balcony. That was sooo nice! They even took care of our luggage, moving it to our rooms while we relaxed upstairs in the sun. The hotel staff also gave us maps an had many recommendations on how to organize our time.

Overall it was a really good stay. The cost is a bit more than what I would expect for the room, but I think it's just pricey in Cinque Terre, that's all.

Room Tip: Book early and reserve a sea-view room!

We stayed here for our honeymoon last month. This was our favorite place by far! Anna at reception was SO helpful! She booked restaurants on our behalf and went above and beyond to make us welcome! The rooms are modern, clean & spacious! Would recommend to anyone and would stay there again!

My husband and I stayed in monterossa in early July 2013 before touring for 14 days around Italy and France following the tour de France. From the moment we arrived at villa steno I realized why they are simply the best in Monterossa. Carlo and Matteo are very genuine people with a friendly and helpful manner. Nothing we asked for was too much. Breakfast was amazing, the room gorgeous, viewing terrace spectacular and the knowledge they both have regarding the 5 towns is invaluable. I can't wait to return and I would recommend all my friends to visit and stay at Villa Steno!

We stayed at the Hotel Villa Steno for 4 nights while travel around Europe on our honeymoon and it was one of our favourite accommodation spots. Monterosso is amazing and the customer service at Hotel Villa Steno only added to our wonderful experience. Carla and Matteo were extremely welcoming and always happy to help with any question and went above and beyond in their service.
The hotel is overlooking the city and gives great views of the whole town. The walk from the hotel to the beach is only a five minutes and allows you to see all the shops along the way. We highly recommend staying at Hotel Villa Steno when you visit Monterosso. We will definitely book here again!
Thanks Carla and Matteo!

Room Tip: Room 18 has a large private balcony and great views of Monterosso.

We stayed at this small family operated hotel for 3 nights last month and were delighted with the friendliness, cleanliness and overall comfort of the accommodation- it was faultless.
The view from our balconey was magnificent, well worth the climb.
We chatted with many of other occupants and we were all of the same opinion.
Absolute value for money

Room Tip: one with balconey is a must but most rooms do have a balconey,I believe

Great location overlooking Monterosso and the ocean. Our room (as most) had a wonderful private outdoor patio. Hospitality was tremendous. They brought wine and snacks when we arrived. Nice breakfast every morning on an outside balcony (or inside). Accomodating - brought as many lattes as we asked for! Very friendly and helpful staff. Hotel is an intimate nice size hotel and gated with easy access to the town below. It is also not far from the spectacular Cinque Terre Trail - options to hike to all 5 towns or just go as far as you want and take either the train or boat back. Hotel Villa Steno is an easy walk from the train.
