Stayed 1 night in July 2013. Overall it was an ok place to stay but the location, smell in the hallway, and weird bathroom plumbing were big negatives.

Unfortunately, they were unable to get a taxi when we arrived at the train station and had to walk with our packs. Not a problem and a short walk from the town until you get to the stairs...which are a long brutal way up with luggage.

The common areas/hallway had a very off smell from not getting any air flow through. Just smelled stale.

The room was ok, a decent size, but also had a bit of a smell. There was no air conditioning which made it difficult to sleep. The furniture in the room was alright, though some of it had significant wear. The towels were not great and the bathroom was not the best. The shower was very awkward and difficult to wash in without bumping into something. Also got water all over the floor. All of the plumbing ran to a pump box which was very loud so anytime you ran water you then got the loud pump running noise. Enough to wake up anyone in the main room if you get up in the middle of the night.

The location was ok, but not close to the old town of Monterosso or the shops/restaurants.

For the price, I'd highly recommend staying in one of the other towns in Cinque Terre in nicer accommodations for less. The trains between the 5 towns are often enough and very cheap. It only takes 2 minutes to go from one town to the next.

While not horrible, this wasn't what we expected.

The good:
Fantastic breakfast - really fantastic!
Very friendly and personable service from Cherry
Transportation from the train station
The steps - yes we liked the steps.

The not so good:
Pics of our room are not on the hotel's website https://sites.google.com/a/alle5terre.com/welcome/camere
The rooms on the site all looked much nicer than our "rustic" room. Our room was a bit run down and the toilet ran noisily all the time. We did have a furnished kitchen but would have needed to wash up any pots, pans, utensils etc before use.
We did not have a view of the sea from our room as is promised on the website. Not all rooms look out toward the sea. We looked across the valley to the south.
The accommodations were large by European standards but our son had to sleep in one of the bunks located in the kitchen. Hmmm...

This wasn't a disaster and we did have a lovely time in the Cinque Terre. But it's worth mentioning the above so others can avoid any disappointments if they're assigned this room.

My advice when booking would be to verify which room you're in by referencing Alle 5 Terre's website.

Chery isan awesome host! She couldn't do enough to make sure we had a great stay, breakfast and coffee each morning was awesome, excellent omelettes! The walk to the rooms was a good excuse for a look around town each day, really not far, we'll be back

My brother and I were here just a couple of weeks ago for two nights (June 26 and 27) and we were pretty satisfied with our stay here! Cinque Terre was the 2nd to the last cities that we visitited in Italy for our 17 day trip, and this hotel was one of the best that we had stayed in. We arrived in Monterosso by train from Pisa, our train was a bit late, and as soon as we arrived, a taxi driver greeted us and brought us to the place that we will be staying! The room itself has everything that a traveller needed, it was booked for two people but there was a bunk bed and queen bed that was provided, which was cool. The wifi was surprisingly fast, it has to be the fastest in all the hotels that we stayed in Italy, probably tied with the hotel we stayed in Amalfi, Hotel Flordiana! The wifi signal here beats other hotels that we stayed in that were in big cities (here is looking at you Hotel Alessandro della Spina (Pisa) and Hotel Romance (Rome))! The hotel is near the town center, you just need to walk down several steps but that was no issue for us, and walk a bit more and you will reach the main beach of the town.

The breakfast was in the other hotel owned by Cherry and Gian, and we were able to locate it easily, The breakfast was good and the staff were friendly and attentive! Cherry was pretty nice too! It also helps we were of the same race as her! She knew that we were leaving pretty early on our check-out date (we left around 4:15 am to catch the 4:50 train to La Spezia and then the 6:50 am train to Rome), and she told us that she will leave some food in the fridge that day so that we can have something to eat before we left! That was a pretty good gesture! And they did leave some food in our fridge and it was good enough to last until we reached Roma! Thanks Cherry! :)

The hotel is also near pretty good restaurants, Miky and La Cantina da Miky!

Even before our trip, we had a couple of questions, and the owners were happy to help. Even there, we wanted to verify the right train schedule, and she showed us the complete train schedule to La Spezia!

I will definitely recommend this hotel!

Cherry is a wonderful host! She had a taxi pick us up at the train station and take us to our room in the "new" Monterosso. Lots of stairs but the room was comfortable and clean. Cherry offers breakfast at her B and B in the "old" Monterosso which is fabulous! They cater to you and the kids. Our train didn't leave until later that evening and she met us at the B and B and let us keep our luggage their to pick up for our late train. She showed us around the B and B and gave us many helpful hints for fun travel. I would definitely recommend staying in either of her locations as she is a wonderful host and the rooms are fantastic.

We enjoyed 3 nights at Alle 5 Terre. We had a corner room in the new town location with a fabulous view. While there were lots of steps to get to it, that height is what provided the wonderful ambience. On the final morning, we didn't have time to go to the main location for breakfast, so Cherry offered to provide breakfast in our room for us. We didn't expect such service from a small B&B, but certainly did appreciate it. We highly recommend this B&B

All we can say is WOW WOW WOW!!!! Gianluigi and Cherry are the best hosts, serve GREAT breakfast, are so friendly and caring. We had gotten a free ride to the hotel and back to the train station. Cherry was text messaging us several times to make sure we had settled and to remind us about breakfast. Free wifi - good connection. We didn't mind the stairs, in fact we enjoyed the challenge. The room is large, BEAUTIFUL view of the mountains on the balcony where we enjoyed wine and pizza in the evenings. We would definitely only come back to alle 5 terre for our next trip to Monterosso. Do not hesitate to choose this b&b, it was perfect.

Room Tip: Be ready to sweat up those stairs.
