This restaurant was recommended by our hotel in Monterosso so we walked to the old part of the village to give it a try.
We were not disappointed at all.
The vegetable soup was great and so was the mixed salad and the main dishes - the pasta boloneise and the anchovies.
The white wine was good too.
Service was perfect and the location near the sea was awesome!

Happened to stop here for lunch just before an entire tour group stopped in for lunch. Even with the 30 some people eating, received prompt, attentive, friendly service from our waiter. Fresh, plentiful, hot, delicious menu choices at fair prices. Was also recommended a great local wine to match our lunch choices. Was our last day in town, but would definitely eat here again not fearing comments from other reviewers.

My friends and I were walking past Ristorante Belvedere one afternoon and saw people enjoying the fish soup and we really wanted to try it. The menu says that it's a dish for 2 people, although it could easily be for 3 or 4 people. There were 3 of us in our party, and we did our best, but couldn't finish it. The soup was brought out in an earthenware jar and served into a big bowl at the table. I tend to be quite picky about food textures, and had never had octopus that wasn't chewy, until I tried this soup. All of the seafood was cooked to perfection (tender) and the flavor was excellent. I cannot speak to the other dishes, but the fish soup was not only delicious, but a fun experience as well. (Note: We found there was really no delicate way to eat some of the seafood in this soup, but don't let that deter you from this tasty feast!)

After a day of hiking we were hoping to find a nice dinner relatively close to our hotel in old town. Belvedere was open and quite full at 7:30pm. We began by splitting a seafood salad and a half-bottle of Cinque Terre white wine. The seafood salad consisted of a variety of warm chopped seafood including calamari and mussels served without any greens. Not quite what I was expecting but it was tasty . We followed this with pasta Bolognese and pasta pesto and a half-bottle of CT red wine. Both pasta dishes were fine and the portions were ample. The bill came to 50 Euro.

Our first night in Monterosso and Ristorante Belvedere was pretty much the only place open. The house special was Fish Soup for two. At 48 euros this better be good. It came to the table in a foil covered tall urn with a large deep but empty bowl and various implements of destruction. The waitress proceeded to carefully empty the urn into the bowl and out came, one whole small lobster, one whole smallish octopus followed by prawns, mussels, calamari tubes, cuttlefish(I think) and chunks of fish, all with a broth poured over the top. After we and everyone else in the restaurant finished gawping we attacked it with some trepidation and after quite some time finished it. Was it worth it? Most certainly! No dessert was consumed that night.
