My fiance and I ate our first meal in the Cinque Terre at Ciak and nothing compared to it during our entire trip through Europe. We had traveled from Prague and were walking through the streets of Monterosso when the smells and sounds from the Ciak restaurant met us. The seafood displayed on ice near the cooktops and a more local ambiance (compared to the other restaurants with a more "tourist" style menu) were enough to convince us to stop here. We arrived at the restaurant early by Italian standards (around 630) and were immediately seated in the front room near the floor window providing a view into the restaurants cellar. The restaurant has a fun, updated decor and is likely passed up by some tourists in exchange for restaurants with views of the sunset and ocean---don't fall into this category and miss the best meal in Monterosso!
Our waitress was excellent and the service was somewhere between European and American service styles--they were professional, courteous, and efficient especially as the restaurant got very busy during our meal. We ordered a bottle of the local white wine and shared our dinners of muscles marinara (herb, olive oil, and garlic seasoning) and seafood pasta--my fiance felt it was the best seafood pasta in all of Cinque Terre. Both orders were more than large enough for us to share and priced well for the quality and the experience. We did not experience the disappointment others have posted related to portion size, quality, or experience--quite the opposite!! Our only disappointment was that the restaurant was closed our last night in Cinque Terre and we had to settle for a nearby seafood restaurant which didn't measure up.
