My friends suggested this hotel to us and im so glad I listened. We stayed in the apartment, which I believe was called "Ondina", earlier this week. It's a bit of a hike up to the location but once you are there you have the most magnificent view. The studio had a modern bathroom with shower, small kitchen with a table and a full or queen size bed with a down comforter and plush pillows. There are two floor to ceiling windows that open to the sea. Waking up every day to that view is really special. It was a pleasant experience and gave us the perfect place to call home during our short stay in Manarola. Highly recommended!

Room Tip: The Ondina apartment looks straight down to the sea

We traveled all around Europe, and this was by far and away the most memorable room that we stayed in. What a fantastic city, view, and accommodation. We met the caretaker to submit our passports and pay, and were off to the room. We were blown away by the views, I couldn't believe this amazing view that people hiked to the top of the town to see - was actually right in front of our room. Everything was spectacular, from the kitchen, bed, view, bathroom, etc. The only complaint I had was that the shower pressure was very weak. To the point that it was like a sink faucet just dripping down. It was a very complicated shower to even turn on, but even after figuring it out it was confusing. Don't worry though, you won't care about the shower once you see the room and are in heaven!

We stayed three nights for 390 euros in a room with a balcony and truly breathtaking views of the Mediterranean and harbor area. Other family members had a room without a balcony and with a small window for 300 euros total for three nights. The rooms themselves were disappointing: linoleum floors, no decor, thin covers on the beds, and no coffee pots or way of heating water. For morning coffee or tea, it's a hike down the hill and into town. However, sitting on the balcony listening to the waves felt heavenly. At night, we opened the windows (you must to keep cool) and heard the sea. Unfortunately for us, and hopefully not for you, a neighbor was in the middle of construction and the hammering began at 8 a.m. each morning of our stay. Do ask about this when you're considering a stay here. The town itself is quiet and charming, and an excellent home base for train travel in Cinque Terre.

Room Tip: A balcony room is worth the money!

The hotel was exactly what you could need and want. Our small group of friends stayed in the two lower rooms and the studio.

Pros (I am only going to name a few, though, there are probably dozens)
1. The main hotel's access to the roof top patio was a major plus. We spent every night as a group drinking wine and enjoying the sunset.
2. Rooms are impeccably clean with everything you could need, new and furnished by Ikea.
3. The location at the top of the hill, though not easy to get to, is completely worth the view.
4. Manarola though defined as "smaller" still had at least 30 restaurants to choose from, amazing views and food and souvenir shopping. The cute little avenues and streets all led to different views and places throughout town too, so don't just stick to the main drag. It is all amazing.
5. Because we are in a group and rented 3 of the 5 rooms, the hotel gave us a modest discount, which was kind.
6. HIKE, HIKE, HIKE...it is too beautiful for words to describe.

Cons:
1. If you aren't European (and possibly even if you are) the water is probably too cold to enjoy the ocean. It did help relieve muscle aches though after a long, hot hike. Long story short, don't go planning on a beach vacation, go planning on hiking and then spending a little time by the beach.
2. To get to the amazing views you are going to have to earn them...there is a steep hill from the train station to get to the hotel. It's probably about 400 yards straight up, so be ready for it.

We stayed in Manarola for 2 nights during our tour through Italy. We chose to stay in Manarola because it was the smallest of the 5 towns. We figured it would be the least touristy and a nice break from the runaround in Florence, Venice and Rome. We think we chose well and absolutely loved our accommodations at Arpaiu B&B.

Arpaiu had fantastic, unobstructed views of the Ligurian Sea from every room. It also included a common room terrace on the top floor. The terrace was definitely the highlight allowing for a relaxing evening watching the sunset to a bottle of wine.

The rooms were very clean and modern with comfortable beds.

There is no breakfast offered however there are a few great cafes a few minutes away.

We would definitely recommend Arpaiu B&B for anyone staying in Manarola!

Room Tip: Zin Zin and Aargan are located on the lower level of the B&B. We had great views from the room...

We stayed here for just a couple of nights but it was fantastic! Rooms were spacious and comfortable. Never saw any other guests although they were full. One down fall was that they didnt have a wine opener...so we used some kiwi ingenuity and used a screw driver we found in a cupboard upstairs.
Great location and views are phenomenal.... something i'll remember forever. nice to be able to chill somewhere other than your room if you want too! they had an amazing deck on the cliff face. would defintely recommend!

We absolutely recommend Arpaiu. We stayed there four nights in September this year as part of an Italian trip. We travelled by train, and the walk from the train station definitely has no steps. The location is just fantastic. Our room was Mea, which like the sitting room and terrace above, has stunning views over the sea, cliffs and the little port. It was modern, clean and roomy. There's an espresso machine in the sitting room. Breakfast is not provided, but there's plenty of cafes close by. Alternatively, you can provision from one of the small grocery stores and have brekky on the terrace looking over the ocean and cliffs of this stunning region, as we and some other guests did.

The host was fantastic. Debora was friendly and helpful with information and recommendations about the area, and we enjoyed some informative chats with her. On the day of departure, when our travel plans were disrupted by a snap 24 hour train strike, Debora and her family went out of their way and helped us resolve the awkward predicament we found ourselves in. Thanks to their help, we still got to Rome by that evening and didn't lose any of our bookings. Italian trains may have let us down, but Debora proved Italian hospitality is without par.

If we ever find ourselves back in 5 Terre, we'd choose Manarola again, and definitely choose Arpaiu.
