You cannot find a better room/apartment in the Cinque Terre. See other reviews for details (we agree). There is a train strike today, and the boats could not run because of rough seas. Hiking trails closed (landslides in 2011). Maurizio would have come to pick us up if we were stranded in another town...one train got through so no need to phone him. His brother Eduardo runs "Billy's" very nearby - don't miss it for the freshest fish and friendly service.

Room Tip: Ask for a balcony. View is awesome. It is quiet this high above the town.

My wife and spent three wonderful nights at Aria di Mare this September and truly loved it's location according fantastic views of the coast and the vineyards from it's large terrace that is off the bedroom. The room and bathroom were very clean, modern and comfortable.
Maurizio was very helpful and truly a nice person who really cared about the people that stayed at his place and the lovely town.
To me Manarola is the prettiest of all the towns and provides the opportunity to walk over to Rio Maggiore any time of the day or night to extend the opportunities for dining which in Manarola was very good....make sure you make reservations.

My hike from Manarola to Monterosso over the high red and white trail was simply amazing.

Room Tip: Note that one room does not have a terrace. You can't go wrong with any of the other three.

This part of Italy is becoming quite touristy and crowded, but we found Manarola to be very laid back and accommodating. During the day it was the most manageable and pretty of the 5 villages, and by 10 pm the town is extremely quiet and peaceful. ALL of the restaurants in this village were outstanding, and the little bar with the live music was a real gem. We would choose Manarola again for sure. We really enjoyed our 5 days there. Take a walk up behind the cemetery to the park; it's gorgeous! Try the fresh anchovies and octopus! The pesto is fabulous as well!
Maurizio ( a lifelong resident) works very hard to provide Aria di Mare as a really nice place to stay! First of all, the view just can't be beat. Glorious! The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The price was good. What more can you ask for? Little English is spoken, but this was no problem. I would return to this B&B without hesitating.
Advice: Don't try to travel here with a big suitcase. Think really small when it comes to luggage. If you visit this area be ready to walk!!! Carry your own toilet paper and handy wipes when out and about; public restrooms in Italy tend to be disgusting, and this area is no exception.

we stayed for 3 nights at Aria di Mare and we loved it.
We booked very early so we had a room with balkony. The view is fantastic! The balkony is very spaces, there is a table wirh 2 chairs and 2 lying chairs
We drunk 3 bottles of Maurizios white wine. On 1 evening 2 bottels and no headache or hangover on the next day - it seems to be a good quality wine he is producing ;)
The room is small but very clean and nothing is missing! The bathroom is also very clean and spacy.
We can defenetely recommend to book for a stay in cinque terre. When walking ariznd we havent seen any other apartments which have such a great location!
If we return to manarola (which we liked most of the 5 villages) we will book it for sure!

We have stayed here two years in a row; the view is wonderful. Maurizio and family are nice and friendly. The rooms are good, clean. and spacious. All accommodations are taken care of very well. Of course, we highly recommend this place. The wine from the family vineyard is very good.

We stayed at Aria di Mare for 4 nights in June 2012 and we had the most amazing experience!
The rooms were clean and modern, we stayed in a room with a large terrace over looking the sea and vineyards, perfect for watching the sunset with a few glasses of Maurizio's own wine.
Maurizio truly made our experience in the Cinque Terre. He brought over maps of the area and suggested different hiking trails that we should take each day to make the most of our time there. We did each of the hikes that he recommend and, whilst they were hard work, the spectacular views along the way made up for it! Maurizio even lent us some sneakers as we had only brought flip flops! If you are feeling active, we definitely recommend the walk from Levanto to Monterosso.
Maurizio also makes his own white wine, which is fantastic, and he will sell you bottles for an extremely reasonable price. The restaurant across the road, Da Billy's, was one of the best that we had been to in Europe, the sea food was so fresh. We ended up eating there quite a few times.
We also felt that Manarola was the nicest town in the Cinque Terre, it had the most personality and was quiet with the least amount of tourists.
All in all, we would recommend Aria di Mare to anyone staying in the Cinque Terre. The only thing people should be aware of is that it is situated at the top of a very steep hill, but the views from the balcony are definitely worth the walk up. And Maurizio and his family will really make your stay here special

Room Tip: Make sure you book a room with a terrace
