“Lucky us”
Reviewed March 14, 2013

It was by pure chance that we found this restaurant. Walking along one of the paths over looking Manarola we were asked by another tourist for directions to trattoria dal billy. Curiosity led us to finding what became one of my favourite memories of Italy.
These people understand seafood, beautifully demonstrated by the the mixed antipasto di mare, about 15 different dishes showcasing the diversity of their art. The seafood is fresh and variety extensive, complimented by chilled local wine. We were treated to a story book sunset and a delicious desert and to top it off i requested a shot of Molinari Sambuca, my favourite and was left the bottle at my discretion. My compliments to the chef, and the staff.

“Great food and view”
Reviewed January 23, 2013

Trattoria dal Billy was recommended by our hiking guide, Pall the Trekguyd (go to him for some great hiking in Cinque Terre). We arrived early for our reservation (note the train schedule if you are not staying in Manarola) around dusk and happily waited overlooking Manarola with two glasses of wine. Since we arrived nearly 45 minutes early, we were surprised to be seated at a great seat within twenty minutes. The staff were attentive and great with recommendations. The food was excellent: we shared their seafood appetizer (which included about 15 dishes) and the mussels I had were amazing. Easily one of the best dining experiences I've had in Italy and I highly recommend it to all.

“great food and views”
Reviewed January 17, 2013

You have to climb a lot of stairs to get here. There are signs that point the way. The food was great and the views are excellent. i could have sat there all day because of the views. when you get to the restaurant go down to the bottom patio. from here you can see the old cemetary straight across and then you can see the town below you and the beautiful sea. even their bathrooms are nice.

“Make sure you book!”
Reviewed January 11, 2013

We read about this trattoria on a couple of websites when we booked to stay in a mini apartment at Manarola. As part of 'an orientation stroll' around Manarola we called at Billy's to see what it looked like and made a booking for 7.30pm Wednesday( closed Thursday).
Billy's is a steep uphill walk from the village but well worth the effort. To access the trattoria you walk down stairs from street level to the bar and inside dining room passing the kitchen as you descend. Outside tables are on multi level terraces below this with more steep stairs. We booked an outside table.
Our waiter was the manager who spoke English and advised us on the menu.
We ordered the mixed seafood antipasto which was a serving of each of the menu items and was the most expensive. It came in about 12 different dishes so the table had to be cleared for it to be served. Every dish was delicious.
While we ate, we were entertained by the athletic shenanigans of the young male waiters not using the stairs but going over and under the handrails while juggling dishes of food.During this time we also saw people arrive with no bookings. The first few were given a glass of wine at the bar but by about 8.30pm people were being turned away.
We each ordered seafood pasta. They were the best we had in Italy but the servings were very large. Fresh fish were presented for selection but we declined as our first course was so large.
Complimentary grappa and limoncello were served at the end of the meal.
The total meal with a bottle of wine cost about 85 euros which we thought was very good value.
