“Wonderful Corniglia”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 26, 2012

We stayed one night at Le Terrazze, in one of the apartments, "La Marina 1". It was situated in one of the streets leading down to the "beach", which meant that we had to carry our luggage down several steps to get to the house, and afterwards up several flights of steps to get to the apartment. But once we were there, we immidiately wished we would be staying more than one night. Marieangela was extremely helpful, showing us nice places to eat and arranging parking space for us, as the center is not accessible by car and parking spaces are scarce. The breakfast was nice and very lovingly prepared, and we really enjoyed our stay. We will return, with bagpacks in stead of suitcases and more time on our hands!

We loved Corniglia, it has a great ambience, people are genuinely friendly and its far less touristy than the other 4 villages in the Cinque Terre region.

Mariangela at Le Terrazze was very professional and quick to respond to emails. We booked Marina 2 but when we arrived, we had been given a larger apartment which was fantastic as it had a balcony right across the back with wonderful sunset views over the ocean. The daily breakfast was delicious and kept on coming. The apartment was spacious and very comfortable and quiet.

It's an easy walk down to the rocky harbor to swim and the walking trail to Vernazza is not too tough. We tried to get to Guvano Beach from the hiking trail, but you have to access it from near the train station. It looked great for snorkelling - so bring goggles or a mask and snorkel. Mariangela will provide beach towels if you ask. They also have free wi-fi - just get the password from the office.

We are so glad that we stayed in Corniglia at Le Terrazze. We would definitely recommend the property to other travellers - you'll be made to feel very welcome. Thank You Mariangela!

We spent one night at Le Terrazze while walking from Monterosso to Riomaggiore. This was a magical stopover and I felt that we were on a movie set. Corniglia is a picture perfect little village perched on the clifftops, and Le Terrazze is the most wonderful place to spend the night. Our senses were stimulated by the colourful and quirky decor, the smells of the garden, sounds of the sea below and the lazy hum of insects. A dazzling and delicious breakfast gave us a great surge of energy to continue on our journey the following day.

Room Tip: We enjoyed a ground floor room which led out directly to the garden

We stayed for four nights in July. The room was quite comfortable and very clean. We were able to relax in the garden after long hikes and take in the beautiful view of the town. The breakfasts were wonderful and served with a smile in the hostesses garden. Our hostess was quite accommodating and helped us get reservations to a fantastic Osteria in tow. We will be back for sure!! Do not miss an opportunity to stay in Corniglia.

In August 2011, my wife and I, our two daughters and their husbands, and our 2-month-old granddaughter stayed in Apartment No. 1 with its Green Room, Pink Room, and Blue Room, as well as a living room, a kitchen, and a bathroom with shower. It was clean and delightful and could not have been more perfect for our family. We could have used another bathroom, of course, be we got along fine. But our greatest discovery was a small machine in the kitchen by the sink that turned out to be a washing machine for our clothes! Corniglia is a very small place, and I'm not sure it even has a public launderette; we didn't see one. But we were at the point in our trip when we were all running out of clean clothes, so the washing machine was a godsend. As you can tell from Le Terrazze's Web site, staying in the apartment was a little like living in a dollhouse, with all the trinkets and knickknacks everywhere. There was no air conditioning and only one fan; we could have used two more fans. Mariangela met us at the town square and could not possibly have been friendlier or more welcoming. We had breakfast every morning outside in the garden. The food was abundant and delicious, and the service was superb. In short, this B&B was a delight from beginning to end, and I recommend it very highly.

We had tried to find accommodations in one of the other Cinque Terre towns, but they were all full. But after getting a good look at all five towns, we were delighted to be staying in Corniglia. It's the smallest and doesn't have a harbor, but it was deliciously quiet and uncrowded, and we relished that.

We spent four days tourings Cinque Terre, which is as dramatic and romantic a landscape as you'll find anywhere. Originally we had planned to stay in Vernazza, but we couldn't find an acceptable accommodation, so we went with our second choice, Corniglia. Unlike the other villages, this one is set high above the sea and is not quite as accessible. The great plus of that is that, while it's charming and has great views of the sea, it doesn't attract the crowds, so it has a greater sense of tranquility about it. Your local restaurant choices are narrower but certainly adequate for a stay of a few days. The other great plus is Le Terrazze, run by the down-to-earth and friendly Mariangela. We can't speak to the all the room options offered, but we stayed in the La Serra apartment, which is a terrific two-story hideaway offering a wonderful patio with lush greenery and outstanding views of the village and sea. The spot is amazingly private and the interior is delightfully decorated and nicely equipped. It was also spotless. It would be difficult, indeed, to imagine better accommodations. In addition, at the main building, Mariengela serves an excellent, generous breakfast--one of the best we had during our three weeks in Italy. The wait staff was agreeable and prompt, and the setting for the breakfast is a very attractive patio. You will be very happy you chose Le Terrazze--just make sure your fitness level is at its peak so you can handle the amazingly steep trails that connect all the villages!
