“Lovely - Sparkling Clean !”
Reviewed November 26, 2013

This Guesthouse is located about a 10 min walk from the train station....it is uphill but four people 65 years plus had no difficulty rolling our bags to the Marvit. Claudio and Maddalena were so friendly and welcoming...we don't speak Italian....but somehow we managed to communicate just fine. The room was lovely and spotlessly clean. Our room Lilla, had a balcony....we were able to enjoy a bottle of local wine and relax after a long travel day.

We were greeted by Maddalena's husband Claudio, who helped us with our baggage and orienting us to the room. Claudio and Maddalena do not speak English and we do not speak Italian, but we managed communication just fine. They were so kind and helpful to us! Maddalena even provided us with a plate and some silverware so that we could have cheese and bread one evening. The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. We used the terrace a lot and it was beautiful. The room also has a small refrigerator that was useful for my white wine and our snacks. We would definitely stay here again when we return to Cinque Terra. In November there are no crowds and the weather can be "iffy", but we had a gorgeous day of hiking the first day and the second day was rainy but we took the opportunity to see the other 4 towns - all spectacular! Grazie Maddalena and Claudio! We'll be back. Ciao!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Celeste - it has a large terrace and you can see the sea in the distance - beautifu...

While this hotel is located a bit on the outskirts of town, the trek up the hill is well worth it. Clean, quaint, spacious and affordable, this hotel offers a welcome distraction from the crowds and more touristy lodgings along the beach.

There are only a handful of rooms available in this hotel but each has its own charm. We stayed in the "Verde" room - which had a balcony with an ocean view. The staff was very polite and accommodating - although there was a bit of a language barrier, I was able to communicate with them using Google Translate. But their espresso was good in any language. Each room has a flatscreen tv with mostly Italian channels, free Wi-Fi, mini-fridges and a RIDICULOUSLY comfortable bed.

All-in-all, we had a very relaxing time in Monterroso Al Mare and a lot of that is due to our stay at the Marvit Affittacamere.

Genuinely friendly service and efficiency are most important for us and we found that here. It was great to have Claudio waiting for us when we arrived and carried our luggage up the three flights . Absolutely spotless room, good location and great value. Very good communication via email for arrangements. A very nice couple who run a great place. Thank you !

V clean but I was disappointed with the view as I thought full sea view but it was a distance away and only part sea view
Nevertheless I enjoyed the balcony
Maddalena cleaned my room daily and changed towels , I liked it but I think she was upset when I removed the basket inside the toilet and put on the bedside table . I wanted to hang my underwear but the basket was hanging there so I removed it. I see no big deal in that but she hung it back while cleaning my room
Aldo I dislike people to touch my stuff which she did to my clothes. I hung my clothes and she removed them to put in another place which I found that place dirty for my cleaned clothes . Though I liked the clean apartment , I found Maddalena very particular and she even pulled out the door where there was a note that I will need to pay for damaged towels and stuff . I merely hung my
Clothes n removed the basket .. Anyway I did not like it that she touched my stuff .

We stayed at this accommodation for three nights while visiting Cinque Terre and were pleasantly surprised at how nice it was. Claudio and Maddalena were very kind and helpful. We had no trouble finding the place with Maddalena's written instructions. It is very conveniently located, just a 10 minute walk to town or the train station, tucked in a quiet area off the beaten path. The room was spotless, and equipped with quality furnishings and fixtures. It seemed like it was brand new. We had a small balcony that looked out toward the ocean where we enjoyed sitting, eating snacks and sipping wine and feeling fortunate to have found such a great place that was affordable in Monterosso.

Stayed here in middle Oct for 4 nights in their Lilac room. Was given good directions on how to get here, around 8 mins walk from the train station with a slight uphill incline but very much acceptable. Its located in the newer side of Monterosso, so its very quiet but maybe 15 minutes walk away from the more busier side of the town. Was told that check in must be done before 8pm, owners will be waiting for you.

Was greeted enthusiastically by Claudio, the husband, I arrived a little later than scheduled but he was still waiting pleasantly anyhow. He graciously helped carry the girlfriends luggage up the 3 flights of stairs. Room is just the right size, decorated with much detail. I think that Maddalena has put quite a bit of attention into the Interior Design. Lots of closet space, comfy memory foam pillows, and a great air conditioner cum heater. A very quaint safe is built into the wall but its rather small. The balcony is huge, and is a very nice spot for breakfast or just chilling. The view is just alright from the balcony, can peek at the ocean if you stick your neck out. It would be great if they could provide a kettle though, so we can have hot water for tea/coffee.

The bathroom is very nicely done, again, I can see the attention to detail that the owners must have put into it. Shower size is typical of what I've seen in Italy, somewhat small. Easily better than many hotel bathrooms though.

It can be a little noisy in the mornings when they do housekeeping and also if other guests are being loud in the hallway. No problem if you are an early riser though.

Basically, all the good reviews here are spot on, its a great place to stay with a really good price. Thanks again Maddalena and Claudio!

Room Tip: Lilac room has a huge balcony, the blue room as a window and a balcony with an ocean view. Blue roo...
