“Warm Hospitality, Comfortable and Great Location”
Reviewed August 17, 2014

We initially found this hotel through the Slow Food guide book and we were not disappointed. The room we had was spacious, clean, comfortable, air conditioned and decorated with good taste. The hotel is very central (just a few minutes walk to the main square) and close to lots of great restaurants and night life. There is no dedicated parking per se but the owners went out of their way to find us a public spot close by that we were able to use at no cost. We were also given great advice on things to see and how to get around. Breakfast is simple but genuine and very good and you can have a great tasting cappuccino often hard to come by in larger places. Could not recommend a better place to get to know Trieste in.

L'Albero Nascosto is where the magic starts. If you let yourself be taken by this place you will not regret it. Not only are the rooms of great taste and love for every little detail, the artwork in the house is stunning and has all varieties of stories to tell. Also the rooms are spacious, cosy and quiet while the house is situated in an interesting neighborhood with delicious restaurants, amazing ice cream and nice small shops where you can find treasures off the beaten track. The small, winding roads around the house, leading through centuries of history, carry you to the seafront within a few minutes or up the hill with great spots to overlook the city. As you can already guess, we felt at home here. The indispensable thing about our stay was meeting the amazing family that runs the hotel. We will definitely come back. Until then we let the magic continue.

“Everything we look for in a hotel while traveling was right here. We love staying in a small, unique, centrally located spot that also offers a few extras to make us feel at home. This had it all. As we drove up, the proprietor could tell we were frazzled and offered to park our car for us. Inside the welcoming public spaces are books galore, interesting art and cool jazz; with a choice of dried fruit, cookies, and water offered, all set in a modern space that maintains the older materials and good bones of the structure, yet has clearly been updated in a thoughtful manner. We had asked for a quiet room and that's what we got. We didn't have a window to the front, but did have one which looked into an interior courtyard. This created a soothing, quiet space where we were able to sleep in a busy city. Breakfast is substantial, fresh and filling. We felt ready to explore each morning knowing that we were just steps away from all Trieste had to offer.”

L'Albero Nascosto was a real find and made our stay in Trieste even more enjoyable. Our room was large and airy and while it looked out over the narrow street, it was quiet when the windows were closed. The art work on the walls of the rooms and in the breakfast room and sitting room was by local artists and lovely. The breakfast was abundant and of high quality, with homemade jams and always fresh fruit. The central location meant we could walk everywhere, especially to restaurants and shopping. Our hosts were always available to answer questions and make recommendations for restaurants. The snacks that they put out in the afternoon were healthy and refreshing.

Room Tip: All the rooms are large, airy and quiet

This centrally-located hotel offers very comfortable rooms. We stayed on the very top floor (no elevator but the host carried one of our suitcases up). Our room had a kitchenette (with beverages in teh fridge) and a large bathroom (though the shower was small). Each room is named for a different kind of wood.

Breakfast was terrific--fresh, flaky croissants as well as a variety of bread, cheeses, meats and fruit. Made-to-order cappucino. Yogurt, cereal and fruit. A wonderful way to start the day! The cozy eating area features a library of books on design and art.

The hosts were gracious and helpful, providing restaurant recommendations and sight-seeing ideas and arranged for a taxi when we departed. Their hospitality gives us warm memories of our time in Trieste!

if you are looking for reasons to visit Trieste here is one: Albero Nascosto. Ten different rooms for ten different visits. Also, the owner is the kindest of all Italian we have ever met. We loved the room, we loved the breakfast and we loved Triest. The taste of old Italy that has not yet been spoiled.

Room Tip: If you are willing to climb the stairs and pay a little bit more ask for the top floor.
