Rather overtitled as it is only 200 metres long but an attractive area with big houses avoid the cafes.

Quite nice, actually, but if you have memories of Venice this is a pretty small version. Take it on its own value for a pleasant morning coffee.

The canal itself is appealing enough and it’s a pleasant area for a stroll, coffee or lunch during the day. At night however the place is transformed with restaurants and bars blaring pulsating music. Can’t help but feel that the area deserves to be treated a little better.

The Grand Canal in Trieste has lots of cafes and bars along the route where you can sit and take in the sights. If you have never been to Venice, it is the perfect introduction as to what kind of canals you can expect to find.

Although traffic drives up and down, sitting there you seem oblivious to it as it is so peaceful.....

For anyone who knows Venice this is nothing special. However, it is a nice area and a good place for a relaxing coffee.

What a fabulous place to stroll along the Canale and enjoy the atmosphere. You can simply sit and enjoy the view and eat a gelato and watch the passing parade of people. Or you can eat at any of the cafes along the way. I think it is a must when you visit Trieste.

What a unique and fun way to get introduced to the beautiful city of Venice, Italy. The Grand Canal is the main thoroughfare through Venice. It’s loaded with boat traffic. The taxi drivers are impressive with their ability to handle the vessels in tight spaces.

The trip provides fantastic views and photo opportunities. I highly recommend a trip down the Grand Canal.

Trieste's Grand Canal is well named - it'll be pretty much the first thing you see if you arrive by bus or train and head on foot from there to explore. It's flanked on three sides by scenic buildings and crossed by a series of bridges. You can stop and have coffee or an ice cream or lunch in one of the many pavement cafes on each side that all seem to do a roaring trade by letting their clients enjoy some shade, the magnificent setting and the opportunity to watch the world go by. A must if you are in Trieste.
