“Beautiful stroll on the waters edge”

The Canale Grande is located a stones throw from the waters edge and is a beautiful spot to while the world away with a coffee or to just watch the locals going about their business. Surrounded by cafe's, offices and near the main road in the resort, their is always something going on. The museum is also worth a look even just for the exterior decor.

Parking is terrible in this city, and the side roads into the city are lengthier than expected. If you are passing through, as I was, jump on the auto and continue to Venice/Venezia for the real canals. Probably OK if your are staying in town and could walk there.

With a few bar / restaurants alongside. Pleasant enough for a cold beer on a very hot day!......................................

Along the canal there are Rocco style buildings on both sides, starts with the Theater, then come across statue of Irish writer James Joyce. People must have wrapped their arms on his shoulders for the pictures; they look shinier than the rest of statue. The S. Antonio Church is on the center, and a Greek Orthodox Church on the right. Many cafe, bars and restaurants around. There are pestrian areas to stroll around too.

Looks better at night when the lights of the bars and cafes reflect off it. By day it looks a bit scruffy and run down with lots of litter floating in it. That said in the evening it is nice to sit and eat your meal beside it
