excellent location in the very heart of Trieste; superb service and authentic food typical for this part of Italy (mixture of Italian, Slowene and Austrian Cuisine). A bit pricey but worth it. Will come again

Chose to have lunch here as it claimed to serve typical Trieste cuisine. One main ( a pasta dish) was acceptable, no more, no less. Our other main was a local dish of skinless sausage, & potatoes, served rather unattractively on a divided dish. The sausages were dried out & hard, the potatoes quite nice. The raw onion rings accompanying it were not appealing. The friendly waitress who cleared out table asked how the meal was, & we politely gave her our opinion. We found it expensive for what we had. Would not return or recommend

I recently had lunch with a business associate who brought me to La Tecia. This very small Osteria is rather crammed with tables and bigger size people may have difficulty getting around. We were warmly greeted and allowed to sit where were most comfortable. The two of us sat at a table for four people, which was adequate.

La Tecia is an ideal locale for people looking for a quick bite to eat. There is an antipasto buffet, a salad menu and a full meal menu with antipasti, pasta & soup dishes and entrees. We started our meal by sharing an order of mixed salamis and prosciutto along with an order of local cheeses. The selection was good and the portion was generous.

I followed this with Bollito Misto; a classic northern Italian stew, most closely resembling the French Pot-au-feu, consisting of various tougher cuts of beef and veal, cotechino and pork boiled for 2-3 hours. La Tecia's version of this dish included boil pork rump, tongue, cotechino and two types of wurst served with sauerkraut, pan roasted potatoes and mustard, topped with grated fresh horseradish. The portion was huge and all meats were tasty. My colleague enjoyed potato gnocchi served in a rich goulash sauce.

Service was very friendly and attentive to our requests. I plan on returning to La Tecia to try some of their other dishes.

Warm and comfortable, La Tecia hosts a solid wine selection purveyed by a fun and friendly staff. Had some great Merlots here, on two occasions, accompanied by plates of northern Italian ham and breads. Really a nice, relaxing little spot that is worth the visit.

Fairly standard outdoor street café/restaurant. Food was fair enough but nothing to write home about. Quite pricey for what we had in comparison with other restaurants we've eaten at. Not sure about some of the other reviews about 'authentic Italian kitchen' though... Apart from being a kitchen in Italy there was nothing extraordinary about the food to put it above many another, but we were not dissatisfied. Just don't expect some sort of 'cultural experience'. Service was good though...
