“Very Good Contemporary Italian Food.”
Reviewed May 10, 2014 via mobile

This is a very cute, well decorated restaurant, very close to "piazza dell'Unità" we decided to try the degustation menu, consistent in ten different small plates, all delicious! This place it's really worth the try! This menu includes five different types of wine, all of them of the region.

“Best Restaurant in our 10-day trip to Italy”
Reviewed April 29, 2014

We divided our visit to Italy between Venice and Trieste, and this was by far our best dining experience. My wife found it on the Internet while looking for restaurants near our hotel. What a find!
The décor is in pastel colors and is a mixture of elegance and simplicity. Service is friendly, helpful, and efficient.
The food is inventive but based on traditional Italian fare. We ordered 5 dishes and that was too much food. We tried the stuffed squid, sardines savor, and scallop pieces on polenta. Unfortunately, our waiter had a big table of individual orders that took up most of his time, and service to us slowed down. As we left, he apologized for the service and said he wished they had not been so busy. We booked a table for the next evening. On our return visit, he had time to chat with us and we learned that he had lived in New Jersey for six years and longed to visit Japan. This time my wife had beefsteak Slovenian style and I had fish soup that was as good as I have ever had. We had a local white wine, a Tokay, that was delicious. It was almost the end of our trip, and it was fun to end on a high note.
We visited Bacco on April 9 and 10, 2014.

“Best of our meals in Trieste”
Reviewed January 21, 2014

Tucked away in an alleyway but actually quite easy to find if you go from Piazza dell'Unita, this was one of few restaurants open on a Monday night in January. It was the dearest of our three restaurant visits in Trieste but was the best and not bad value for such an excellent meal.
After a spritz to whet the appetite we were then offered an amuse gueule before starters. I had scallops to start and they were faultless. My husband had the local soup specialty Jota which was delicious. Two pasta dishes for main course, two desserts and an excellent bottle of local wine. With service €120. We were also offered a post meal digestivo. Excellent grappa. Would heartily recommend.
Service was low key but attentive.

“Farm Raised Fish in Trieste!!”
Reviewed November 6, 2013

The restaurant is located just a few steps from the Piazza d' Unita, on the narrow street surrounded by the charming old buildings. In addition to indoor seating ,restaurant has a pleasant outdoor setting consisting of a row of tables along the building.

The menu appeared limited and boring, however, after daily specials and server explanations ...it was more appealing, but nothing out of ordinary. The restaurant advertises itself as a "cucina de peace" or seafood specialty. It had about ten fish entries, however, when asked the server the information given to us was that only 3 out of 10 [monkfish, tune and one more] were fresh and wild caught....the rest of them were "impresa di piscicolture" or farm raised. Considering that Trieste is on the shores of Adriatic Sea which known for having one of the best fishes in the world, to say at least this was disappointing surprise. When asked why....the honest answer from the server was : I don't know why...maybe because it is cheaper....I don't understand the management, but again i only work here. I also would not eat farm raised fish.

The meal ended up with some meat dishes, pasta and soup. Two beef tartare dishes were excellent. The rest of dishes were well prepared, but nothing out of ordinary for this area.

The food is overpriced for this type of menu and fish selection.

The wine list is fine and compliments the food and it is not the most reasonable, but fairly priced.

The service was honest, friendly and efficient.

If your choice is the fresh, wild caught fish...this not the place.
