We were very disappointed in this hotel after booking it based on the good TripAdvisor reviews. First of all, it is very far from the city center and we did not enjoy the long, hot walk. Second, the apartment is supposed to have a fully equipped kitchen and ours had no cook top. When we asked about this, the staff person told us it would be installed by 5pm. It was not installed until 7pm. This completely messed up our dinner plans and we ended up not cooking and eating terrible pizza for dinner instead. The hotel didn't seem to be full so it wasn't clear to us why we had been given an apartment without a cooktop in the first place and no explanation was provided. The bed was also hard and uncomfortable. The apartment building is across the street from the hotel and there wasn't anyway to call the front desk so we kept having to walk back and forth whenever we had a question which was a pain. Our apartment was on the 5th floor and one time the elevator door failed to open, requiring us to go back down and walk up. Breakfast (an extra 5 euro per person) was okay but no one offered espresso or cappuccino - the staff were completely indifferent to us. On the plus side the AC was good and the bathroom was very nice. Overall, this apartment hotel feels overpriced for what we got.

We were very pleased with the Residence San Giusto. We rented a top floor Bilocale Studio Apartment consisting of a bedroom, living room & kitchen and bathroom. It was very comfortable and quiet with full air conditioning. The latter was great as it was very hot during our holiday, up to 30C.

We availed of a marvellous buffet style breakfast that was available in the associated Hotel across the street. Great value for only €5. A free internet PC was also available in the Hotel.

We were delighted with the location. We are active walkers so we regularly walked to the sea front, via the hill and Cathedrale, taking about 20 minutes. The Residence is well served by regular nearby buses (1 & 10) which take you to the seafront and train station very quickly at a cost of only €1.10

If we go back to Trieste we would definitely stay at the Residence again !

We were delighted with our apartment - spacious and well equipped with nice touches like the shiny red SMEG fridge and a dishwasher. Modern and very clean. Lovely large bathroom. The staff across at the hotel were very helpful. It was a bit of a walk into the town centre but a very pleasant one and there were plenty of facilities in the area. The apartment provided fantastic value for money and I highly recommend it.

Great value clean apartment in a non touristy area. The number 1 bus takes you into the town very quickly or you can walk (which we did a lot ).
Breakfast for 5 euros was good value especially the ladies who would make you a cappuccino or espresso to order.
Great pizza place just by the local cathedral (by the bus stop) also supermarket just round the corner. Our second visit and we will be back again!

To be honest, after all great reviews here a was expecting probably too much.

The accommodation is nice and clean, even the lady at the reception of the hotel (whom this Residence belongs to) was really nice, but there are other things to consider.

Parking is available for € 16 per night but the true is that it is in a different building and you have to cross the frequent road. This is real problem if you travel with children and you have car loaded with a lot of stuff. The parking place is also very, I would say, Italian - limited. This is a garage below the hotel and the places a designed for very small cars - Nissan Micra and smaller (if there are any smaller). I had big SUV and it was real challenge to park there. I was happy that I lost few pound during last months otherwise I could not get out of the car. I have even seen small accident in the garage, so it is really small.

Another point is the location. If you plan to come and go for nice Italian dinner, stop right here. There are no restaurants close to the residence. To be honest, I was successful to find one but based on the rule of all tourists 'if there are not locals inside you also should not go' I have decided to skip this opportunity. When I asked in a local Deli whether they could recommend me any restaurant they also could not recommend any. So do not plan and bring the food with you - it is an apartment so there is fully equipped kitchen.

To put in plain English.
If you do not have a lot of luggage and you are looking for nice accommodation in a quite street this is your winner. If you travel with kids and you use your car as a base camp for all your stuff, you will find it difficult to go to car every time you will miss something.

Room Tip: All rooms are 2+2, which means 2 regular beds and 2 places for sleeping on a couch. Do not get foole...
