Great value clean apartment in a non touristy area. The number 1 bus takes you into the town very quickly or you can walk (which we did a lot ).
Breakfast for 5 euros was good value especially the ladies who would make you a cappuccino or espresso to order.
Great pizza place just by the local cathedral (by the bus stop) also supermarket just round the corner. Our second visit and we will be back again!

To be honest, after all great reviews here a was expecting probably too much.

The accommodation is nice and clean, even the lady at the reception of the hotel (whom this Residence belongs to) was really nice, but there are other things to consider.

Parking is available for € 16 per night but the true is that it is in a different building and you have to cross the frequent road. This is real problem if you travel with children and you have car loaded with a lot of stuff. The parking place is also very, I would say, Italian - limited. This is a garage below the hotel and the places a designed for very small cars - Nissan Micra and smaller (if there are any smaller). I had big SUV and it was real challenge to park there. I was happy that I lost few pound during last months otherwise I could not get out of the car. I have even seen small accident in the garage, so it is really small.

Another point is the location. If you plan to come and go for nice Italian dinner, stop right here. There are no restaurants close to the residence. To be honest, I was successful to find one but based on the rule of all tourists 'if there are not locals inside you also should not go' I have decided to skip this opportunity. When I asked in a local Deli whether they could recommend me any restaurant they also could not recommend any. So do not plan and bring the food with you - it is an apartment so there is fully equipped kitchen.

To put in plain English.
If you do not have a lot of luggage and you are looking for nice accommodation in a quite street this is your winner. If you travel with kids and you use your car as a base camp for all your stuff, you will find it difficult to go to car every time you will miss something.

Room Tip: All rooms are 2+2, which means 2 regular beds and 2 places for sleeping on a couch. Do not get foole...

We just stayed here for a long weekend and were very pleasantly surprised at the size of the apartment. Everything was very clean and tidy. We didn't have a kettle or coffee pot when we got the but a phone call to reception soon fixed that, they sent us a kettle with a tray of tea, coffee, sugar, jams, nutella and other goodies. The location is great, a ten to fifteen minute walk from the centre and just a 2/3 minute walk from the no 1 bus stop. The apartment is surprisingly quiet at night for its location, we expected noise but didn't hear a thing! There is a co-op just up the road and a fabulous butchers/deli across the road where we got enough meat for breakfast for our whole stay for less that €4.

A group of four, we stayed here while exploring Trieste after driving up from Croatia. After the hair-raising drive to the hotel (caused by the narrow streets and flamboyant Italian driving style) we entered the hotel across the street that runs the apartments and checked in easily with the English-speaking concierge, though the counterman was a bit gruff. The concierge escorted us to the residence and let us in, giving us tips about the area on the way.

Upon entering we were struck by the size of the apartment; more than adequate for four of us. Clean and simply decorated with everything in working order, except the microwave but a quick call to reception sorted that out. The second bed was a fold out sofa bed and would have been fine for me as a young man but was a little uncomfortable for our two slightly older travel companions. Aside from this the apartment was functional and exceptional value for the price we paid amongst our group.

The location is also good though it should be noted it is not near the popular waterfront area if walking by foot, though a short taxi or bus ride will get you there quickly. It's situated right near a charming square upon which sits a gorgeous church. Late into the evening the area was alive with people enjoying a meal, eating gelato or having a glass of wine and chatting. Absolutely picturesque and very nice to have so close to the apartment after a long day's walking.

Breakfast was very good and I was able to indulge my love of coconut yoghurt repeatedly. One thing to note; the hotel has it's own parking under the building but if you don't know where it is just save yourself the trouble and park in the underground public carpark whose entrance is just near the church. It was relatively cheap and is fully secure.

I have nothing bad to say about the Residence San Giusto, it made our stay in Trieste very comfortable.
