I must let you know, before you read this , that i am from Trieste, but left the place in 95. However, i spent some of my best years drinking espresso (in the morning and at lunch) and caliceti (wine glasses - in the afternoon) and eating at Siora Rosa.
While a bit overpriced on the eating side, Siora Rosa can offer you (almost) the best overview of Trieste's MIttelEuropean cuisine. From fish to steak, from porzina con kren (Pork meat with horse radish) to gnocchi and scampi ... all with a good selection of wines and grappas (you might need them for digestion).
On the top of that, they are a superfriendly bunch of people, in a new pedestrian zone in trieste.
Warmly recommended, i miss them pretty often !¬
