“Wonderful gem in San Marino”
Reviewed October 7, 2012 via mobile

Hotel Titano is an old medieval hotel located right in the heart of the old town. The La Terraza Restsurant offers a panoramic view of the whole of San Marino - a beautiful sight to behold. It is near to all the major monuments of San Marino - the three towers and the Bascilica.

Excellent value. Good service. Didnt try the breakfast or the restaurant. Great location and great views. Second the earlier review about requesting piazza garibaldi views. In room 304 and 305, there is a balcony attached with fabolous views

We stayed here as part of our Cosmos tour. The room we had was fine, but the air conditioning wasn't very good. It was either have decent air conditioning or our fridge plugged in to keep our water cool. So, we elected to have both going and neither worked very well. We were situated above the street side and it was very noisy at night. We had a dinner in the "tour" restaurant and it wasn't very good--the older male waiter was absolutely terrible & rude. Be aware that you have to pay for all your drinks (including water) and it is very overpriced. The wifi took a bit to get working, but did work in our room. We were on the third floor. The hotel is up on the mountain and right in the centre of attractions. Make sure you walk up to the highest castle for absolutely stunning views.

This hotel is quite a large hotel and well situated near the top of the old town. The rooms are large-ish but a little tired with our bathroom containing a large selection of cracked tiles. I had to run the shower for a good 5 minutes before getting any hot water. The air conditioning was irritating as it was positioned under the window about half a metre away from my bed, blowing freezing air directly on me. The free Wi-Fi also took some effort to be made to work.

Overall, this was not a great hotel but for the price we paid (€88), it was actually not bad value. I have stayed in far worse at greater cost. Beware the parking which is extra. On booking we were told we could have public car parking at €5 per night but on arrival were told this was not available due to a demonstration and we would need to put it in private parking at €16.

Stayed here for 2 nights early July. Small hotel with a nice restaurant (or so it seemed as I did not have dinner at the hotel). Reception staff welcoming and multi-lingual. As for the rooms, these are the basic and old-fashioned type of rooms, nothing fancy to be expected here. Bathroom also very basic, amenities certainly not up to standard for an alledgedly 4-star hotel. Wifi did not work all the time and of mediocre quality. Views from the room were awesome however. Beds of good quality and comfortable. Rooms were clean. Soundproofing is also an issue, you will hear your neighbours so you have to be lucky if you're sensitive to that (I am and I was lucky ;-)). As for breakfast, it has some variety, but not much fresh produce (all fruit being canned fruit, fruit juices were not fresh, and so on). But for the rest it was ok, no major complaints here. Parking might also be a challenge but I did not have this problem as I did not come with my car. In summary, this is a 3 star hotel at best, with attentive staff and great location to visit the rock. If you're looking for luxury however, you should look for another hotel. Last but not least, mini-bar prices are shocking, 6 EUR for a beer is outrageous!

I stayed in Hotel "Titano" for 2 nights Jul 13 - Jul 15, 2012 and liked it very much. There was quit a big bathroom with hip bath and window :). I liked bed: it was quit comfortable with unusual head :)
I stayed at third floor with view to the street (around 2-3m wide). It was nice to look outside the window to see people chilling out, shopping, walking, etc.

What needs to know:
- there is no fridge in the room (in my at least :))
- there is Internet point in the hotel (4euro/hour ;))
- you can ask for wifi access (it's free) but I failed to connect it ;)

I recommend this place but need you to go with expectations which are based in reality. The two pluses are the view (if you get a room facing the right way) and location. The rooms are very dated and worn-looking with cheap, plain fixtures. Though the room had a spectacular view, there was only on small chair and no comfortable way for two people two sit and take it in. Also, our room was on the first floor just a few feet from the restaurant. Nice when you are heading out to eat...not so nice when loud parties are leaving after you have fallen asleep. Breakfast was standard tourist buffet. The restaurant, Terrazza, was on the whole quite nice. The desk staff was very good, the restaurant had staff both attentive and surly depending on when we went. Also, the taxi can only get you so close, then it is a steep climb uphill to the lobby. If there are two or more of you, send one up to ask the staff for help hauling your luggage. They are very helpful once they know what you need.
