“Perfect overnight stop”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 8, 2011

We stayed in this hotel on our way down to Florence. It was perfect for our purposes - a large and comfortable room with a good bathroom with ENOUGH TOWELS (a rare event). Breakfast wasn't that great, but other wise it was all fine. Helpful staff. We booked in advance and got a very good rate. The hotel is on the outskirts of Piacenza, so not much of a view, but it's not far into town. We ate at Tre Ganasce in Via S.Bartolomeo - excellent.

It's modern and comfortable hotel, not far away from the center of the town, easy to get there in a quiet surround. The staff are peasant, good speaker of English. The room is spacious, more then standards, very clean.

We spent our last night in Italy in Piacenza because of its proximity to the A1 and Milan Malpenza airport. We had difficulty finding the hotel when we exited the autostrada, but it was very easy to get onto the A1 the next morning. The hotel was perfect for our needs. It is modern, clean and basic -- not much to see from the outside but parking is right in front of the hotel entrance. The manager at the front desk was very friendly and helpful.
It was easy to get to the historic district for sightseeing and eating in the evening.

Room Tip: Rooms were quiet.

We've spent a night on our trip to Spain there. English speaking personnel, very friendly. The room was comfortable, bed was great, it was overall nice and clean. The breakfast was quite allright, the capuccino was great. Free parking space is available in front of the hotel, as well as garage.
The downside is very expensive internet - 4 EUR for half an hour.

I have spent about 5 months of the past year in Piacenza, in Autumn, Winter, Spring, and Summer, and stayed primarily at the Best Western Park Hotel. Hotel Stadio has won my heart, though, because of the staff. Flora, Antonella, Francesco, Stefano, Claudia, Laura, and the rest (whose names I can't recall) always treat me like family. I enjoy sitting at the tiny bar and speaking with whomever is working reception at any given time.

Sure, they don't have the elegant lobby, restaurant, bar, and meeting rooms like Park Hotel, but the rooms at Stadio are actually nicer than those at the Park Hotel.

Stadio Hotel is like my home away from home. The people are wonderful.

This is some way out of the town center and overlooks building sites (abandoned) from front and back. It would have been difficult to use without a hire car. Parking is convienient. Apart from the Reception door the ground floor of the building provides frontage for a furnishing shop, a small bar and an excellent pizzaria (it was the only local place to eat without driving miles). This hotel has no lounge area or restaurant, so you have to go out in the evening.
The Reception is modern and the staff very professional. A corner provides a 'bar' where wines, beers and spirits can be bought, but there is no seating area (we ended-up sitting on the stairs to talk with friends!). This is a perfect place for business purposes, certainly not for a relaxing holiday. The rooms are 'clones' of each other: well serviced and reasonably roomy. Modern and functional.
The hotel was fully booked (other guests had also travelled from many parts of Europe for the same event as we had) the breakfast staff were overwhelmed and by the time we arrived to sit down the tables were not cleared and the buffet bar was missing many items. So no eggs, bacon or croissants for us.
On checking out we mentioned the problem and were offered a 'brioche to take away' - not quite the same as having a complete breakfast. The overall cost certainly demanded better service.
Stay if you are not paying (business purposes) but consider alternatives if you want to enjoy the town center or enjoy a variety of restaurants without driving.

  • Liked — Professional Reception staff
  • Disliked — No lounge or restaurant area.
