“The only place to stay when visiting Parma.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 8, 2013

My husband and I stayed here for two nights during May 2013. We had a little trouble reaching the hotel by car, but Mattia was extremely helpful in navigating us through the streets. (Make sure to watch the Youtube video they provide if you are going to drive.)
Our suite was beautiful, large and very clean. The room service was a nice touch for breakfast. Bathroom and shower were large also. WiFi is available in all rooms. Basically Vittorio's attention to detail is what makes this hotel a must stay.
Since Parma is a pedestrian city, this hotel was the perfect location to all of the sites, restaurants, and shops. There is also a fantastic restaurant right around the corner.
If you are visiting Parma, make sure you stay here for friendly staff, great location, and beautiful and charming rooms.

We were concerned about driving into the heart of Parma to access the Palazzo. Turns out, our fears were unnecessary. We easily navigated the "pedestrian only" streets to find our location. The parking was just around the corner. Once inside, Mattia welcomed us and spent as much time as we needed getting us oriented. He and owner, Vittorio, are always smiling and full of enthusiasm. They are naturally warm hosts.

We had a spacious room with a kitchenette. Two nights we cooked in, but only because we had enjoyed lunch out in the city. Parma is full of the "world's bests." Their parmagianio is to die for, as is the culettelo. Another great local product is the balsamic vinegar. All reputed to be the very finest, and we have no reason to doubt. We eagerly partook of all the culinary treats the region has to offer.

There was a farmer's market on the main walking street near the Palazzo. Local cheeses, meats, produce and fruit. What a breadbasket the Po Valley is. We congratulated ourselves on our choice of the Palazzo because of its central location, but really it was the kindness of our hosts that made all the difference. We can not recommend the Palazzo enough. Bon appetito!

Room Tip: I suspect that they're all good.

What a great place. Location could not be better as it is right on the Cathedral square so dead quiet at night. Staff were unbelievably helpful with the receptionist even finding us names of shops where we could buy some of the furniture they had in the cafe! Lovely outside part to the cafe in a quiet side street for evening sundowners. Breakfast was nice. Couldn't have been better.

Having travels across Italy many times, I can only express my delight at discovering Palazzo Dalla Rosa Prati. Vittorio's attention to detail, beautiful rooms with consummate electronics (wifi, computer, etc.) fed both the business and pleasure portions of the trip. The ample breakfast was served in one of the hippest evening spots in the city (so said my colleagues at the university), and the location (centro) brought the charms of the city (sumptuous food, glorious art and architecture, splendid walks) to our doorstep. We will never stay anywhere else--mille grazie, Vittorio.

Everything was wonderful - from the room to the attentive and caring service from Vittorio and Almanda (who got into our car and helped us drive through the crowds to the hotel and then to the parking lot) to the location to the guidance on sightseeing and even to the hotel cookie on the bed. This hotel made our stay in Parma a wonderful experience.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the piazza so you can see the Bapitisrty and Duomo and hear the accordian...

From the moment we arrived we were happy. The directions were easy to follow and Almanda took my husband to the guarded garage to park the car, which was not far away and brought him back in their electric car. Later we met the charming Vittorio. Our room was the one in the photograph - blue -overlooking the Duomo square. There is a glass lift that takes you up to the 2nd floor bedroom. The room was very spacious, the bed excellent, the bathroom and shower perfect. Breakfast was brought to our room and consisted of delicious breads and excellent coffee as well as yogurts, juice etc. The accordionist outside our window each evening played beautiful music and had a huge repertoire. He sounded like a church organ. Parma is a wonderful city and we will go back, hopefully to rent one of the apartments in the Palazzo Dalla Rosa Prata so that we can discover more.

We LOVED PDRP! What a fantastic location with "A Room with a View" over the Piazza and the Duomo. Tip for travelers..make sure you follow EXACTLY the directions that Vittorio emails...YES you can drive the wrong way down a pedestrian street! We were serenaded in the afternoons by accordion music right outside our bedroom window and everyone at the hotel was wonderful to deal with. Vittorio arranged a private tour for us of the local cheese dairy and balsamic vinegar cellars..fascinating. Parma is so easy to get around as everywhere is pedestrian-only and such a beautiful place. Without the crazy crowds of Rome of Florence. Would definately come back to Parma and would definitely stay in a family home that has been a part of Parma for over 600 years. Another tip..rent the Smart Car, it's such fun to get around in! Thank you for a wonderful stay.
