This is a good hotel not far from Parma centre, there is a bus in or the hotel will lend you a bike. Problem with my sat nav finding it because they have closed a road off. So may be wise to take a google print out of there area. Restaurant was fine with good food and wine withe excellent service at a reasonable price. They had no problem with my extremely vocal siamese cat. Would have been happy to spend a couple of days here to explore Parma but I am heading for he UK

Room Tip: They are all soundproof and OK

There are no negatives I can write about this hotel. We had no problem finding it. Since itis on the odge of the city near the motorway ( milano - Venezia) exit. Lots of parking space available, staff is really polite and kind, they helped us with everything we needed. Equipment kf the hotel is really new and all is clean. Breakfast is really rich, there is a lot to choose from.

One of the things I have noticed in Italy is that 1) Italians are miserable at giving directions, and 2) they have very little patience in doing so. And this was the case with the Holiday Inn Express in Parma. "Oh, just take the Centro exit" was their advice. An hour later and after making several stops (thank you, young man at the coffee bar) we finally found the hotel, which is in the most convoluted location I have ever experienced for a hotel. It is relatively new and the rooms are small but adequate.

We had been on the road all day, driving from Genoa down the Liguria coast line to La Spezia, stopping in San Margarita, which we find more pleasing than Portofino, and then turning inland to Parma. So we were tired and chose to have our dinner at the hotel It was adequate in sterile surroundings.

New and very well kept hotel, it is not in the centre of Parma, but not too far if you have a car. Very kind receptionist, standard but good quality breakfast. Spotless clean, also in the bathroom. HI Express chain has no frills, but when the property is well kept, it is very good value. I had a room in the back, on the first floor, and even the country field view from the window was pleasant.

We were two couples traveling north from Rome, and we booked here for a one-night stop-over after reading that it was convenient to reach from the highway without going into the city center, and offered free, secure parking. Even though our GPS sent us correctly, the building is set well back from the road and without clear signage at night. We passed by and had a drive on curving, dark roads finding our way back.
Upon arrival, the desk clerk was very helpful and offered to take the luggage trolley down to the garage for us, and the night porter helped to make sure our van would fit underneath the door without scraping.
Once checked in, one of our room keys (swipe cards) did not work at all, and the other couple's did not work to activate the lights in the room. However, the problems were all worked out after about 15-minutes. The only other issue was we could not access the wireless internet from the room. The desk clerk was helpful in booking us a taxi, etc. (taxi 10 EU to center).
The bathroom was clean and had a nice shower and a small granite vanity. It seems the hotel made a mistake and charged each of us an extra 60 Euros, but said they realized it and would correct it. It was fine for a short stop-over and a very reasonable price (62 Euros) including locked parking, Internet, and breakfast that was pretty good, including scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, peanut butter, breads, honey, cheese, meats, good orange juice, etc.

This Holiday Inn Express was as expected: basic, no frills accommodation. The hotel is located a bit far from Parma and not near any public transportation but it's an excellent choice if you're driving since the parking lot is large and free. The building and rooms are updated and clean. The rooms have open shelving and a small rack to hang up clothes; the bathroom has a towel warming rack, hair dryer and bidet, but toiletries are limited to soap dispensers on the wall and in the shower. Our room was warm (temp in the 50's outside) despite turning the thermostat down, but that was good because the bedding is minimal. If we opened the window we heard traffic on the nearby autostrada, but when closed we did not hear the noise. Breakfast is included and consisted of a nice assortment of cereals, meats, juices, coffee, and breads, including delicious "homemade" cakes. There were scrambled eggs in a warming tray but they were cold when I tried them.
