“Great pink marble of Verona used here”

An interesting attraction but only on those interested on the architecture of the renaisance period and the religious painted scenes. It has quite a high admission fee for its size compared to the rest of Parma but it worths a visit for studying the transition to from old roman to the Gothic style of buildings in Italy.

“Not to be missed!”

Wonderful Byzantine frescoes which covered ceiling and walls of this octagonal marvel. Don't forget to check out the goodies in the Duomo gift shop: books picturing the friezes as well as Parma violet soap and perfume.

“Another beauty to behold”

The view from afar of this octagonal Romanesque-Gothic baptistery is enough to entice you to pay the fee and go inside and have a look. Once inside all you want to do is gaze up (wish there were benches to lay on!!) Again, this medieval monument is truly wonderful and a must if you visit Parma.

“Nice photo opportunity and great area to hang out and enjoy the scenery”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 19, 2012

Parma's a great city to spend a night in and just soak in the small town atmosphere. Opera lovers can try and get tickets to the Teatro Regio and other attractions include the Cathedral and the Baptistry.

The Baptistry looks really amazing and is an excellent photo subject. The walk around the area doesn't take too long and I suggest, timing it for sunset to capture some really good photos. There's a large piazza in front of the Baptistry that had space for children to run around.

Parma has wonderful meats, famous for Parma ham, and parmesan cheese and many good restaurants to choose from. As a rule of thumb, shops close early by around 7pm and restaurants open from 7.30pm for dinner.

“Fine and very unusual building”

A very beautiful building. This is a very useful monument and building to understand European history. There are no many tourists and it's perfect.
