One of the most beautiful Cathedral interiors I've seen. The stand out quality of this cathedral is the richly coloured paintings which cover almost the entire interior of the church. Make sure to deposit your 2 Euros in the box that triggers the lights to come on in the nave- a wonderful and dramatic revelation.

Not much to look at from the outside, but inside this is one of the most beautiful cathedrals I have seen. Marvelous painting extends across the whole ceiling and walls. 2 euros to put the lights on, but worth it to see the building in its full glory.

The cathedral had amazing paintings that were quite detailed & rather expansive. I can honestly say it reminded me of Rome and it's many more famous cathedrals. I am always amazed by the marble work & the workmanship from times past.

The rather plain exterior belies the beautiful interior, which is punctuated by the dome’s exuberant fresco called the Assumption of the Virgin. The fresco was painted by Antonio Allegri, better known as Correggio. When the fresco was completed, the bishop of Parma was said to have been disappointed, referring to it as "A mess of frogs' legs." Well these frogs’ legs looked pretty impressive to our untrained eyes, it was truly breathtaking.
