La Greppia is a old style classy place with all male waiters in tight uniforms. The restaurants is located on the main shopping street of Parma yet is an island of quiet. Everyone spoke in hushed voices providing a relaxed atmosphere and privacy to everyone. All tables are covered with starched white linen. The menu is dominated by mostly parma meats but they did have a lobster pasta special on the day we dined there. We started with a platter of four different parmigiano cheeses (aged 12, 24 and 36 months) and a cold cut platter of prosciutto, parma ham and pepper salami. Both were lovely. As mains we picked the local rack of lamb and beef fillet which were both cooked to perfection. The waiter recommended a nice local red (Sangiovese) that matched the food very well. Togehter with two bottles of Pellegrino the check came to under €100 which was very reasonable for the food and service quality. Highly recommended.

The recessed entrance on a “main” artery leads past a small bar to a narrow, well appointed dining room. Bilingual staff are representative of the best in Italian service. They offer helpful insights when selecting among the menu’s reasonable number of selections largely reflecting local cuisine often with “nouvelle” twists. Heeding their advice selecting local wine was well rewarded. It was an experience for which I’ll gladly return (though Parma’s center offers a number of tempting alternatives).

We were lucky to have been able to make a reservation two hours before the restaurant opened. It filled up rather quickly by 9 PM. The service was perfect, the food was excellent, so was the Lambrusco wine that was recommended to us by the waiter. Great evening.

Delicious food, quiet environment and professional staff. Everything was delicious- cheese tasting, prosciutto, pumpkin ravioli, tagliatelle w/ truffles, beef Rosa- just a wonderful experience.

This restaurant is highly recommended by the locals and does not have Pizza's on their menue. Located near the Railway station on one of the high streets it is easy to find.

The menue is typically local Parma Choices (which could not be a surprise). We choosed 30 month stored Parma Ham as a starter followed by a local steak. It was excellent… They have good selection of wine and grappa. We ended the meal with a locally produced beer - thus avoiding Sweets.

It is always a pleasure to see mature and compentent staff who knows what they are doing. It is also a good sign when you can see into the Kitchen and the staff working.

A brilliant choice when visiting Parma - but book in advance as it is very popular.
