“Not to be missed”

Da non mancare!

Working lunch with colleagues.
We paid 25 EUR for 1 pasta dish + 1 dessert + mineral water and sangiovese wine.

Instead of a single serving of pasta we ordered a "trio" that is three different smaller servings of our choice. All fresh home made pasta. It was simply delicious and generous !

Nice environment and service. In a very busy hour the took the time to explain all the (many) variations of their menu.

Very nice family run trattoria. Good service and good quality traditional food and all well priced. I have no problem recommending it and have been there several times.

“Light and fresh, beautiful flavours - truly superb”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 14, 2013

Our family of three stayed 6 nights in Bologna and we love our food! We ate very well the first 3 nights but superbly on the 4th, 5th and 6th nights. Osteria La Traviata had just reopened from the holidays; we were most fortunate.
The osteria is charmimg with typical white walls, timber floors and memorabilia - a warm atmosphere. It was busy all 3 nights but the tables are not packed together uncomfortably and the staff cope very well.
We quickly learnt to leave it up to our charming hosts [husband and wife team] to recommend our food and wine. Every dish we had was divine, truly fresh and light. Despite the amount we ate, we never left with that over-full feeling and the prices were reasonable too. Our favourite wine was an Amarone della Valpollicella 2007.
Dishes ranged from passatelli and ravioli with a light cheese sauce and liberal shavings of white truffle [our host had brought a collection of truffles out for us to smell beforehand] to tortellini in brodo [broth was definitely fresh and home-made, not from a cube] to a salad of thinly sliced fresh raw artichoke with parmesan slivers and rocket to potatoes and chickory cooked with saffron [from Zanzibar, where our hosts had just holidayed!] to glazed suckling pig [that melted in your mouth] to creme caramel [yes, that mainstay of desserts but what a difference here - choice of classic or with pear or with chestnuts or why not have all 3, I did!] to mascarpone cream with berries to semifreddo made with amaretti - just to die for.
We still talk about our dining experience at La Traviata, and when next in Italy, what with the speedy Frecce trains making it so easy and quick to city hop, we will book another meal here from wherever we are.

“True taste of Italy”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 12, 2013

This is a fabulous family run restaurant. We asked our hotelier to recommend somewhere romantic and this definitely was it.
The husband runs the service and the wife makes the food, including all the pasta.
Definitely the sort of place where you are offered meals not on the menu - don't miss!
