“Excellent B & B with lovely hosts”

Perfect location in central Bologna, walking distance from everywhere. Delightful immaculate bedroom with separate bathroom, it felt like staying with friends. We were encouraged to make ourselves at home in this beautiful appartment. The breakfasts were lovingly prepared by Tiziana who baked delicious fresh cakes most days. We had a very enjoyable morning learning how to make fresh pasta and tiramisu in Ilaria's cookery class. It was the ideal choice for a short break in Bologna and was a real 'taste of Italy' - so much better than an impersonal hotel. Thank you both!

At Eastern we went a couple days to Bologna. We discovered this excellent B&B: near to the city center, private parking place, delicious self-made breakfast, possibility to use kitchen, clean & quiet rooms, a lot of autonomy / privacy, a very warm welcome & personal service, .... what do you need more! "Casa Tiziana" has everything that we expect from a local stay in Italy. Bravo Tiziana!

This is a well located, well appointed and quite stylish B&B. Close to all the main attractions and close to the university so you can soak up the university atmosphere which is very much part of the city. Also close enough to the station to walk (takes maybe 15 minutes so not so good if you have heavy luggage, but otherwise fine). Rooms are spacious with high ceilings and tall shuttered windows, quiet, clean and very well, and tastefully, furnished.. And the wi-fi connection is excellent.

Breakfast is very good - and includes a cooked breakfast if you wish. Everyone sits at one long table, which some people may not like, but there it seemed to work well and easily. Tiziana, your host, does everything possible to make you comfortable. As a courtesy to her, I suggest that you let her know if your planned time of arrival changes so that she doesn't have to sit around all day waiting for you.

Each of the two rooms downstairs has its own bathroom, but not en suite - the rooms upstairs (or at least the one I was in) have en suite bathrooms, but you do have to climb quite narrow and steep stairs to reach them. This wasn't at all difficult, but might be if you had very heavy luggage.

One thing - the B&B is on the first floor and although there's a lift in the building, you have to take the stairs. Again, for anyone with very heavy luggage this could be a problem. .

Bologna was delightful and clearly off to beaten track of most travellers going to Italy. Tick!
We stayed at Casa Ilaria only one night, and whilst the b&b is comfortable and in a good location, I felt there was something lacking - however, I can't put my finger on what it was. Everything was good, but it just wasn't as great as I had hoped for.

We had a good stay in Casa Ilaria with two teenage children. The location is ideal for exploring this lovely old city. The host Tiziana and her son were very friendly and helpful and gave us good tips for local restaurants. The only drawback was that our room was up on the first floor, up really narrow and steep steps. if you don't have big and heavy luggage you will be fine.

My boyfriend and I stayed at this B & B during a 3-night stay in Bologna (a lovely, underrated city, by the way.) What a great find! It's located on the 2nd floor of an apartment building in the heart of the city (easy walking distance to all the major sites.) We loved staying in an apt. building as opposed to a hotel as it made us feel like locals. We stayed in the "Camera Verde" on the second floor of the apartment. The furnishings were simple but the room was clean, bright and very comfortable. We had a nice bathroom in our room. The two rooms on the downstairs floor have bathrooms outside the room but don't let that discourage you. You will still have your own, private bathroom and it's immediate adjacent to your room.

The whole operation is run by the wonderful Tiziana, who does everything from cooking the breakfasts, cleaning the rooms, and handling the bookings. She welcomed us warmly upon our arrival and provided us with lots of tourist tips as well as restaurant recommendations. Her English is limited but with our limited Italian, we had no problem communicating. There is a long dining table where breakfast is served. Tiziana puts out a nice spread of cereal, toast, jams, cakes and offered to make eggs. She even had an American coffeemaker! My boyfriend is gluten intolerant and she baked gluten free cakes for him to have each morning. The place really should be called CASA TIZIANA.

That said, this place may not be for all tastes. If you have trouble with stairs, you should know that the elevator in the building was not working (I don't know if it ever does) so you will have to carry your bags up to the second floor. Also, if you're staying on the 2nd floor of the apt., there is a long flight of stairs up to your room. Finally, if you're someone who expects American-style air conditioning blasting at you, be aware that while the rooms do have AC, they are Italian air conditioners and take a while to kick in. We turned ours on the minute we got in the room at night and by the middle of the night, the room was cool and comfortable.

Overall though, our stay at Casa Ilaria was a highlight of our entire trip to Italy and when we return to Bologna, we will definitely be staying there again!
