“We loved it”
Reviewed August 17, 2012

A beautiful hotel, clean, well equipped rooms, very helpful and pleasant staff. Well situated 15 mins by taxi (EUR 20 approx) from airport. Around the corner on to the main road for buses (every 10 mins) to city centre, bus tickets available from reception cheaper than on the bus. The room and bathroom were lovely. Good quality toiletries, large powerful shower (no bath) and extras like cotton buds and shoe horn. Very pleasant pool and bar area, lots of loungers, though sometimes crowded in the afternoon. Restaurant served excellent food, and not too expensive compared to restaurants in city centre, though Italy in general is not cheap. Would recommend city tour and San Luca express (Dotto train) which goes up hill to Basilica. We found it by chance, not very well publicised but we thought it was well worth the trip.

The hotel was good. Rooms very clean, spacious and well decorated. Airconditioning was very good. Breakfast was okey, but nothing special. You can have it outside which is very nice. Swimming pool is a nice extra, but the sun loungers could use a facelift.

Location is good, just 10 minutes by bus to the centre of Bologna.

The main reason you should go there is the restaurant. Very well priced and extremely good food. Service is impeccable as well.

Overall very good quality for the price you pay.

We stayed in the Savoia for 5 nights last year and increased that to 7 nights this year. We love everything about the hotel. Our room overlooked the pool area and was spotless. The staff are so friendly and helpful. The area around the pool is also kept spotless and there are loads of sunloungers. But the highlight has to be the food! We ate there 6 out of our 7 nights and I would be looking forward to our meal each evening from about 4pm. We are already planning on going back next year and may even extend our stay a bit longer.

Wow its hot hot hot right now.. A big grand affair this hotel. I dont know why but my expectations were not that high but all in all this hotel did actually tick most of the boxes. The best restaurant in Bologna is just a few paces from the hotel foyer, really the service and food here is excellent, the staff there were like a well drilled platoon but very friendly with it. The breakfast was ok, no hot offerings, but a nice area to eat it open air or inside. The pool and pool area could do with a makeover, but when its as hot as it was you're just glad for a clean cool pool to dive into (walk into). The staff were generally very helpful and friendly. Our room was a junior suite.. A really good size and ok for our 2 night stay.. Nice and clean with a good bathroom, we had just a shower with jets and various options but no bath in ours. The air con just about kept up with the heatwave.

In conclusion, this is definitely a recommendation.. Less personal than what we normally go for, but then for two nights do you really want personal. We recommend the drive to Ravenna... The artifacts and mosaics were so good to see. Oh and location was very easy for us just off the motorway and free parking, yes !!

We just stayed here August 8th, 2012. Had an early morning flight from Bologna airport and we were trying to find a hotel that was fairly close to the airport with a pool.

We had a corner room as we were travelling with our young daughter. It was spacious with nice hardwood floors. Large bed and a single bed for our daughter.

Very close to the ring road (Tangenziale) and within 10 minutes of the airport.

The pool is not huge but the perfect way to beat the heat. Lots of chairs, beds and umbrellas. Staff at the pool bar were great.

Check-in and check-out very quick and easy and the room rate of 92 Euro (including all taxes) was excellent.

Will definately return to this hotel and would recommend it to anyone.

We stayed here for 10 nights this summer after a stay of 5 nights three years ago. Now, as then, the hotel was exactly what we hoped for.
The location is perfect for exploring Emilia-Romagna. It is 1 minute from Bologna's ring road so day trips are easy. It is 3 kilometers from Piazza Maggiore and you can take the bus (inexpensive) or drive if you have a car, or take one of the complementary hotel bicycles.
Breakfast is very good, with boiled or scrambled eggs, bacon, fruit, yogourt and lots of pastries. plus juice and the best coffee machine around.
The staff at the counter, and wherever you find them, are all very helpful and made us feel welcome. The hotel is booked for meetings a lot - both Italian groups and international, so it seems very business-friendly but we felt quite at home on vacation.
The restaurant, Garganelli, is probably the best resto we ate at in Bologna, which is known for food. We ate here twice this time and once last time and were impressed with the food quality and service, for a very reasonable price. If you stay at the hotel, make sure you eat here at least once.
Plus, there is a nice pool and pool bar that is open late. There is also a decent gym if you need a workout on vacation!
All-in-all, we give this a 5-star experience rating. We're travelling as a couple but there were plenty of people with children, even babies. they were no bother to us and it seemed they were well cared for as well. The hotel is big enough, and quiet enough, close to everything, staff is very professional yet very friendly.
If you're still reading you are probably interested in going to Bologna. What a great place for day trips (besides Bologna itself). Modena, Parma, Reggio, Ferrara, Marbella, Ravenna, and many others are worth it - don't miss Mantua. You are striking distance to Padua, Venice, Verona and Florence for the day.

Very nice business hotel. Very good situation close to the motorway, but without any disturbance. Large parking and bus stop nearby to go to the center. Swimming pool is not big but quite nice with charming staff. Very nice breakfast and the hotel restaurant also offers very nice quality for a good price ! Very good price/quality during a stay in the summer months.
