We stayed there for a night in mid-June 2012. The hotel is a bit far from the center especially if you want to go there by foot in nighttime. Overall it is as good as it might be for a 4-star hotel: nice staff, pleasant rooms, quiet and comfortable. And the breakfast was fine too. Just to mention, the value is there since you can easily find a room for 60 euro / night.

Room Tip: We had a room with a park view, it was nice

The hotel is not well located and area does not feel safe walking from the station.

This is DEFINATLY the wrong side of the tracks!

If you are a rail based visitor stay on the other side of the Station at Mercure, Starshotel or UNA.

I actually thought I had booked the UNA location thinking it was the AC Hotel!

We were droped off after Tour around 5pm. Check in went well, although key did not work, went down told them key did not work, they told me to try it again, so when I was going back up, a worker who had a key to all the rooms, came up and said, key doesn't work, so I went back down , then I was givin a new key. Since I only was given 1 key at check in, they should have re programed my key and not send me back and forth.

We decided to go for a walk, we ended up in the main shopping area and tourist area. Easy walking from hotel.

Since we went on a food tour. We didn't eat dinner Our breakfeast was included, but we had to eat fast due to early train to Firenze. Was good.

Hotel is in walking distance to train station. 10 - 15 min walk with luggage. **Note** If you do walk to train station, be prepaired to carry downstairs to the "BIN"

con: No kettle in room for tea or coffee
No safe box

When booking hotels in Europe one may find high prices with ancient buildings. This AC Marriott property is well located, easy to find, new construction with a modern touch. Although we only spent one night, we found the room price to be very reasonable for Bologna. The room was very clean and although small it was very comfortable. Beautiful clean bathroom with all the toiletries you will need if you forgot something. We had breakfast included but we did not take advantage of it. We left early before the breakfast was set up. There is a coffee machine in the lobby with delicious options that serve strong Italian coffee. Outside parking is free.

With luggage, you'll need to take a taxi from the train station. After that, there are local buses one block away, and two others two blocks away. All these buses go towards the Centrale train station. The hotel is modern, new and clean. We had to pay extra to eat at the breakfast buffet, but 8 euros was not a bad price for the food we had. Note: eggs costs even more (not included in buffet)....and was worth it (for me).
You are not in the center of town, but you are five minutes away. Tickets for the local bus can be bought (from a machine) on the bus at a higher price, or you can get them from a tabac shop for less. For the price, it was a wonderful place....quiet and very nice.

We spent 3 nights at this hotel and were very disappointed. The room was very nice, modern, and clean but the service at this hotel was horrendous. It was like you were always putting the staff out. We never walked in the front door that there was anyone at the front desk, they always were in the back on a computer and you had the impression you were interrupting them. When we wanted to have dinner in the restaurant, someone from the front desk had to go find someone to seat us, no one was ever around. It was ridiculous. The last morning we tried to get breakfast in the dining room but there must have been a convention because there was not a seat or clean table available. We walked around the corner and got the same breakfast for around 5 euros at a local coffee shop that they were charging 17 euros for. Maybe it's just that this seemed like a businessman's hotel. Very surprising that Marriott would put their name on that hotel, I've come to expect more from a Marriott and was very disappointed.

This hotel looks very recent. Decoration is all modern teeth aching Italian design, with all good things and bad things that go with it. If you prefer old style luxury, I would strongly recommend that you go somewhere else. Hotel is 1.5 mile far from the historic town center. Not a problem if you like to walk or if you have a car. In this latter case, you will then have to pay for parking, unless you arrive early enough to park outside around the hotel, in which case, it’s free.
Rooms are immaculate and of decent size for Italy. Downside is that I found my room a bit noisy with morning traffic outside and when people speak in the corridor. However, as previously noted by other reviewers, the only real BAD point with this hotel is breakfast. Choice is barely average. No eggs, or you’ve got to pay extra for it. The worse being that the management of this place obviously hates tea drinkers: they offer tea bags and hot water, but only small coffee cups to make it, no tea pot, no large cups either! This is one thing that really upsets me. Still some hotels around the world behave this way. I think that I am going to make it a battle from now on. Watch my next reviews…

Room Tip: If you drink tea, bring your tea pot...
