“Good hotel, bad room”
Reviewed December 12, 2013

The hotel in itself was very good with free car parking, however the rooms were too small or maybe I made a wrong room selection. Overall experience was good. I'd recommend this hotel for business travelers as the property is in the outskirts of Bologna.

Room Tip: Ask for room size before making a reservation.

The Savoia Hotel Country House is really like you are in the country. It lacks reliable wifi in the rooms, the staff are not too knowledgeable and there is all sorts of mold in the bathroom. Also, they do not use the standard EU plugs here, so I had to retrieve an adapter to my adapter in order to plug in my cell phone (although the reception's solution to my lack of charging options was to leave my phone in the lobby overnight - not really ideal in any circumstance).

The room was spacious, but the furniture was old, there are visible cracks in the wall, and have I mention the mold in the bathroom yet? This place needs major gutting and renovations before it should be allowed to retain its four star status.

As for food, I had a group dinner at one of the restaurants on the property, and it was not really that great, especially for Italian cooking! The food seemed like it had been prepared three hours before and had been sitting out for a while. None of the hot foods were especially hot, none of the cold foods were really cold, it was all just at room temperature.

I would not stay here again and I would not recommend the country house. I would spend my pennies at a better property.

This is a nice and cute country house which happens to be in the back side of famous Savoi Regency Hotel just next to the highway.

But we had the impression that it is quite a neglected and poorly managed part of Savoi Hotel. Personnel also gives the impression that they feel abondoned by the upper management and there are no signs of enthusiasm on their faces. The rooms are very clean but receive too much noise from the highway and they do not have a sensetive air conditioning system. The room was extremely hot because they told us that they have switched to winter heating (although it was 24 degrees outside). Due to highway oise we couldn't open the windows either so we were stressed between 2 bad choises. (Heat or noise !?)

The parking is large. But if you have big luggages don't expect any help from reception; all they can offer is to show you the trolley asking you to carry all your luggages yourself. So if you have a lower back pain problem with heavy luggages, this is not the place for you to stay. Airport is very near; only 15 to 20 minutes depending on the traffic. Would I ever stay in this place if I come back to Bologna? My answer is no.

Great hotel, We stayed here for one night before Flying home, The staff were friendly and helpful and our room was beautiful with a very comfortable bed , small problem with the bathroom being a bit cluttered with no room between shower and toilet bowl. We got the bus into Bologna which is about a ten minute bus ride away. The consierge made a reservation for us in the main hotel restaraunt and we wre informed we had full access to the Pool and spa in the main hotel savoia across the road. The breakfast was very nice also. Only other minor negative was alot of road noise from the main road outside but all in all a very good hotel and great value only 10 minutes from the airport.

This hotel is effectively a self-sufficient annex to the nearby, larger, Savoia Hotel Regency. I stayed here for 4 days during a corporate event in the Bologna area.

The location is quite a way out of town, so a visit to the fascinating Bologna city centre will require a taxi or bus ride. The Country House is just opposite the road from the Regency and feels quite intimate and secluded, set in its own grounds with mature shrubs and trees and comprising a number of low-rise buildings in the local style that house the bedrooms, reception and breakfast room.

Check-in was efficient and in good English. My room was quite small but had all you need for a comfortable stay. The bathroom contained a shower cubicle that was a touch too small though, requiring some deft manoeuvres to accomplish an all-over clean.

A bit more worrying was that door to the room which appeared to have, at some point in the past, been kicked in (or this had been attempted) as the strike plate for the lock catch was bent inwards and screws to various locks and plates were slackened. This meant that it required careful alignment by applying pressure to the (closed) door to allow the locking latch to be turned. Once locked, it was secure, but my colleague in the room opposite had the same situation and they could not lock their door.

Breakfast was served in the on-site breakfast room and was perfectly adequate with the usual continental buffet affair (and an on-demand fresh orange squeezer). The setting was tranquil and calm, making breakfast a nice way yo start the day.

The facilities of the Savoia Regency (such as swimming pool, bar, terrace etc) were available for use and the attached restaurant was excellent.

Overall I liked the setting and charm of the place.

the basics were there. but here's the thing: when I want to sleep on a couch-bed and not be offered coffee for breakfast i consult couchsurfing.com, not a 4 star hotel.-sincerely, the third person.

overall ok, the stuff was very indifferent and unhelpful. not to mention the poor breakfast choice with its stale cold fruit and old boiled eggs.the hotel is otherwise 15 min away by bus from the city center so that spared us the search for parking places.the room was spacious enough and surprisingly quiet, although located on a main street. most of the guests at the hotel were italian.

this was our first time staying at this hotel, and we stay in bologna 2-4 times a year. the country house was a nice facility, a good rate, and we enjoyed all of the amenities of the large hotel. the staff at registration as well as the pool bar were rude, indifferent and unwelcoming. later in the evening for drinks amd the next morning for breakfast they were nicer.

Room Tip: some rooms have been renovated, some not. ask for a newer room.
