Brand-new, modern setting in an ancient palace for an exciting museum tour leading the visitors from the Etrusc town to Ducati.
The real chance to discover the amazing variety of people, ideas and events that shaped Bologna's history and its influence on the world.
Interactive. Nice café.
Must see.

Easy to find, newly opened in 2012. Great history which we would not have been aware of had we not visited. Very relaxing way to spend a few hours. I think we were there about 2 hours but could have certainly stayed an entire afternoon. Very beautifully done.

This museum was on the recommended list supplied by our Bologna hostess and we enjoyed our visit here. The building was once the home of Bologna's most important medieval family dating back to the 14 century. Very obliging staff and free audio guides.Good presentation of the history of Bologna, ( we came here to learn more about this city).Exhibits tell about Bologna from antiquity, and the medieval period through the renaissance and up to the nineteenth century. Old building with some interesting use of glass and steel for displays.
Recommend a couple of hours here.

This museum felt very new and, unlike many we considered in Bologna, clear signing and an obvious entrance. On going in we found out very quickly that not only was it free but guide books and audio guides were available in English.

The museum tells the story of Bologna from the first Etruscans to the modern day as you walk through. It is a beautiful building, well lit and laid out and everything is attractively set out and inviting. I really enjoyed learning about how the city we had spent a couple of days exploring took shape and to see aerial shots and learn what is behind those imposing front doors and high walls. The children particularly enjoyed the underground canal, created from lights and mirrors and the short 3d film (with subtitles) which had us flying about the city with an Etruscan called Ari. My only complaint was that I wanted to be able to buy the guidebook to read more at my leisure. and it wasn't available.

We really enjoyed our evening visit, a great way to make the lost of the and even the coffee shop was open until 7pm.
