I went there not realizing it was going to be a hands-on participatory experience.
11 of us made pasta from scratch, including about 10 minutes of rolling out the pasta and making tortellini, and fettucine , which we ultimately ate for lunch! We learned some things about Italian cooking and Bolognese sauce. well worth a visit.

My girlfriend organised this class together with a couple of friends. I expected a small group of people, but there were 8 of us in total. The school was nice, clean but difficult to find. The teachers gave us a quick description of how to mix the flour and eggs, some information about the food of the region, but it just felt like a factory conveyer belt where they do and repeat the same things every day. I had read somewhere that a proper bolognese ragù takes hours and hours to make and the teachers showed us how to make it in the couple of hours during the class. Valerie was friendly, but I saw that she didn't really concentrate on each participant getting their method right to make the pasta correctly. We made Torteloni and Taliatele but she and her colleague did a lot of other preparation work while the group were trying to help eachother with rolling out the dough. We had lunch and ate what we (the teachers) had prepared for us, but it was nothing amazing. To be honest, I have eaten some amazing pasta in Bologna and this just wasn't really that good. I found the whole approach just a money-making operation for tourists. I guess the other reviews think it is good if they haven't had other cooking classes to compare it to. We had previously done amazing cooking classes in Puglia and this was nothing in comparison. To be honest, the price was attractive, but at the end of the day you get what you pay for. All in all, ok, but nothing special.

Thanks for the review from which we definitely find inspiration for improvement.
Surely pasta is the recipe we do most and so what we are explaining is often similar, but what is interesting for us is that the people who listen to us are always different and each one receives in a different way. As we explained the ragù does not need more than 2.5 / 3 hours of cooking, but if you want to cook more there will not be many differences.
We love to take classes with small groups of people, but depending on the time we try to satisfy all requests.
In any case we hope you have been able to do the recipes carried out together.

I had a terrific morning learning to make tagliatelle with ragu sauce, tortelloni with butter and sage, gnocchi with tomato sauce. There were six of us in the class which was conducted in English. The class was fun, very informative and “ hands on”. We concluded sitting around a large table partaking of our mornings work and chattering whilst sharing a bottle of Sangiovese red wine together with water. Barbara and Penelope were very easy going and delightful women who were generous to include my husband whilst sharing our meal. I can highly recommend Il Salotto di Penelope if you have 3-4 hours available to immerse yourself in Italian cuisine. Grazie

We had an incredible time with Barbara and Valerie! Our group consisted of my wife and I. Our four adult children, plus our son in law, daughter in law, son’s girlfriend, and two grand children. It was a very relaxed atmosphere, the recipes were easy and fun, plus delicious! Everything from scratch!!

Gratzie Barbara and Valerie!!!!!

We signed on for a full day of cooking lessons.
The kitchen was well appointed and we enjoyed the company of Valeria & Barbara. Both women were very knowledgeable and I now know how to cut onions without crying as well as making hand rolled pasta and melt in the mouth gnocchi. In the afternoon we made Ossi Buchi, Risotto & Pannecotta.
Thank you ladies for an enjoyable day and congratulations for building such a successful business.
