“Imperial Hotel Bologna”

We stayed at this hotel for 1 night following a week in Tuscany, we were flying back from Bologna the next day. It was a great experience- excellent value for money. A relaxed atmosphere with friendly and helpful staff. Very comfortable rooms.Breakfast was ample with a wide selection of food which was regularly "topped up" while we were there. They had a small sun terrace with sun loungers- a nice touch, and we enjoyed a game of table tennis just before we left. Some of our group used the small gym. All in all we were very impressed with this lovely hotel....and a bus from the city centre stops right at the hotel.Would be very happy to go again.

My husband and I stayed five nights at this hotel and had a really very good time.

The room was cleaned every day. The housekeeper who was looking after our room was a very smiley and cheerful lady. The towels also were changed every day.

The staff were generally willing to help with anything. My husband obviously enjoyed the company of the man at the bar while watching the Euro 2012 football matches. He was friendly and entertaining. Bear in mind that the bar prices are quite high. A small beer costs 4 Euro (in the supermarket a pack of three beers cost 1.89 Euro!).

For a three star hotel the breakfast is really good, except the coffee – it wasn’t tasty for me.

As there was not a restaurant around the hotel we asked at the reception to order some pizza for us. The receptionists were kind and helpful and recommended us some pizza deliveries. They ordered pizza a couple of times on behalf of us as we don’t speak Italian.

The bus 25 stops in front of the hotel and take you to the city centre for 35 minutes. A single ticket costs 1.20 Euro. Our journey to the city centre was a very unpleasant one. Because of the hot weather, it was really boiling in the bus. On the way back we were lucky and got a bus with an air conditioner.

The car park is quite roomy and free of charge. The airport is very close, 10-15 minutes away by car.

As a whole, this is a really good hotel and would stay again on my return to Bologna.

We arrived in Bolonga late, missing our arranged shuttle bus from the hotel. With just a quick phonecall to the hotel, the shuttle bus arrived back for us to take us straight to the hotel.
We checked in quickly and recieved all the information we needed for our stay, which included free breakfast, free Gym, free wifi, a bus service from just outside the hotel and free rental of bikes (sit up and beg bikes!). This was handy for us as we used these to travel down the street in the evening to the restaurants to eat.

The room was very clean and had a mini bar in the corner (we used this to store our beer bought from the coop down the road).
The bathroom was very clean too, with a change of towels everyday. We took our own shampoo but after a day or two, we worked out that the soap is supplied on the wall in the shower!!
The room also has air conditioning but only works when the balcony doors are closed..again, took us a while to figure this out,
The beds were very firm as were the pillows, so took a bit of getting used to.

The breakfast in the mornings were excellent. Lots of choice, cereals, bread, pastries, biscuits, fruit, hams and cheese, scrambled eggs, yoghurts, along with teas coffees and fruit juices.
We didnt use the bar, but wouldnt have thought the prices would have been too expensive.

The staff overall were very friendly and helpful, and spoke English when the Italian got a little difficult, The man who drives the minibus/shuttle is always smiling and seems to do everything around the hotel as well as drive the shuttle.

We would definately recommend this place to stay and will stay here again if we come back to Bolonga.

If you are looking for good restaurants in the area, we can recommend co-co's pizzeria about 5minutes on a bike and Snoopy 2's Pizzeria about a minute further towards the centre. Both have excellent food, value and service.

After staying at much more expensive rooms in Rome and La Spezia, I was concerned that this was going to be another so-so room. But it was a very nice place. The rooms were very new looking and spacious. The bathroom was very un-Italy-like so it was very new looking and had plenty of room. Never figured out the bidet thing but of course it had one. You could actually maneuver in the shower. Best of all was the "included breakfast". It had a complete selection of breads and get this, included scrambled eggs. Received a croissant and coffee at my other stays. Reception was very nice and helpful. Had full bar capabilities and even had some limited food selections in case you did not want to go out. We had a car but the only draw back, if it is one, is that it is not close to down town. It is not far (2-3 miles?) bu too far to walk. They did mention a bus that went down town. We were just passing through and though we drove downtown to look around, it did not look like somewhere to go. It was very convenient to the highway which worked for us. 7 nights in various places and this was out best stay.

Room Tip: Impressed that this was a Smart Hotel. Very green.

Comfortable hotel in a good location. Only 5/10 mins from Bologna centre. Bus very frequent right outside the doors of the hotel! Rooms comfortable, channel selection of tv poor but cosy other than that. Do not purchase drinks at the hotel as there is a lidl store 5 mins away at 1/6 the the price! (found out the hard way) Plus there is a fridge in the room to store items.

Breakfast was a great selection each morning, unexpected but very impressed!

Staff are nice, some more helpful than others. Best advice if you are staying here is to know directions from the airport as it was very hard to find at night.
