What can I say except if you are in Bologna then you must visit this medieval religious complex. It was 7 churches originally but there are 4 churches now. Take your camera and wander from door to door, preferrably with a local guide who can show you this most unique church/es I have ever been to. There is a small museum as you wander through, and a tiny room with all these wonderful photos of residents who lost their life in the war. I will always remember Bologna and this wonderful complex.

We enjoyed seeing the different ages of time as we moved from building to building--stark differences exist. But what captivated us the most was the back courtyard and the cloisters, which we enjoyed photographing. Take time to enjoy the symmetry of the approach to San Stefano, with its cobble-street courtyard.

One of the great attractions in Bologna. A mystifying atmosphere, and chapels that immerse you in the medieval period. Definitely worth visiting, and a photo near the churches' well is a must.

Numerous churches amalgamated onto one site. Fascinating warren of a place with so much to see, whether churches are your thing or not.

This Benedictine Church has seven fascinating little Churches within the main body of the Church - rather like those Russian dolls! All very intriguing. And the piazza outside is great to sit in ad have a relaxing glass of wine.
