If you have only place to see in Bologna, this is where you came.
Every city has one main square/street and this is it for Bologna.
It is a lovely area to walk around between lovely shops, coffee and restaurants and beautiful buildings and monuments.
People usually gather/meet here, and you can see a lot of them enjoying themselves around which gives the area a nice feeling.
it is lively even on cold rainy evenings. We enjoyed local cuisine of Bologna in one of the nice restaurants in the area, drank coffee and when it got cold bought hot wine to drink while cruising the area.

There's not a lot to do in this square other than admire the architecture of the surrounding buildings, which is magnificent, and have a look at Neptune's fountain. There is a fantastic coffee shop opposite Basilica di san Petronio though that serves outstanding coffee. That's definitely worth a visit.

Great place to go, bring a panini or gelatto, and people watch. Just be careful with posessions! Got my wallet stolen here. But as long as you keep a hold of everything, you'll be just fine

The centerpiece of this great, elegant city. Many restaurants, wine bars, shops within walking distance.
