“Great view and exercise in the same package”
Reviewed July 22, 2013

The tower was open in July only on Saturdays and Sundays from 9am to 6pm. I decided to go right in the morning because then it would be less crowded and maybe the weather would be slightly less hot.
The entrance to the tower is from Strada Maggiore. It costs only 3€ to go to the tower. The stairs are wooden and there are "platforms" in every corner to make it easier to climb and bypass others. Every now and then there are intermediate layers so you cannot look all the way up/down the staircase. Some people have said that the stairs are very very long. If you haven't used to climb any stairs, for sure almost 500 stairs feels like that. But the stairs can be climb in relatively short time. You get great exercise and view in the same package!

“Worth it!”
Reviewed July 22, 2013

The views of this extraordinary city are certainly worth the lung-straining steps. A good way to work off the over-indulgence on all that great Italian food!

“What a view!”
Reviewed July 20, 2013

I am sixty four, overweight, don't exercise, have angina and a stent and I managed the 497 steps. It was a slog but take your time and you'll get there. The view from the top in brilliant. Wee tip. Try and go after it has rained as the general smog is gone and your photos will be clearer. You can buy a memento of your climb from the shop at the bottom.

The climbing is a little bit hard, but you get reimbursed on the top of it by a great view of Bologna.

“Long climb.”
Reviewed July 19, 2013

The view from these towers are amazing, but if it was worth the 500 odd step staircase??..well it was sort of worth it.
