Owner description: The colossal towers were built by Bologna's important families in the 12th century.

It is a worth while attraction to do when you are in Bologna. The views are great from the top, but the climb is also an attraction and it is only 3E. It is not the worst climb, as there are levels to rest if you need to and you don't look straight down from the top to the bottom. The entrance is not well marked, but still easy to find.

Bologna is the city of towers and these are the most famous very near from Piazza Maggiore. Don't miss them!

This is NOT an attraction for the unfit. It's a VERY long climb (if you're familiar with London, think of Covent Garden station, multiplied). However, there are rest areas every few flights and the views at the top are fantastic, especially towards the surrounding hills. Just make sure you take plenty of water and give yourself plenty of time to climb. For 3 euros I thought it was well worth it (and it will help you loose some pounds from all that pasta and pizza!

Went to the towers yesterday on a Tuesday to find a sign saying they will be closed on week days until early July. Open as usual on Saturday and Sunday.

You can't miss this sight, though like me you may not want to climb the hundreds of steps up the main tower to get a good view. That makes it a short attraction to visit, but worth a look as it's very central and iconic; also there's a very busy gelataria on the corner of Zia Zamboni which my husband found a great draw.
