- Quite tricky to find so print out/take a good map
- A rather commercial, unattractive area
- A bit of an unfriendly welcome but we were given a better room than we had booked and we did arrive a little early
- Pleasant room and bathroom
- Easy to get bus into town, even on a Sunday
- Were told that air conditioning does not get turned on in the whole area until June... it was rather hot without it in May! So we had to leave the windows open which meant that it was rather noisy.
- Breakfast OK but a bit limited

The hotel is what it is - a fairly decent, inexpensive hotel just outside the centre of town. Don't stay here if you want a romantic night in the beautiful historic town of Bologna, as you'll be disappointed. However, the room and bathroom was absolutely fine and actually a pretty good size. The breakfast was ok, definitely not below average for this type of hotel. You can take a bus into the centre of town really quickly - the bus stop is just around the corner and runs until about 1am. Or you can even walk - it's about 25-30 mins to the historical part of town. Staff were perfectly friendly and it was pretty good value for money.

There are no frills at this hotel but it is clean, safe and the staff is courteous. The rooms are not fancy but they are adequately heated for winter. They also have parking space which is rare in Bologna. They even have a covered parking garage that they usually charge for, but in my case they didn't. Breakfast is only 5 Euro per person and it is also adequate. Otherwise they have several parking spots in front of the hotel.

I was travelling alone with my 18 months daughter. I arrived at 8pm (still light) and walking around the area didn't feel safe at all. Arrived at the right road I found it difficult to recognise the hotel (check the picture and you'll see why). The receptionist wasn't very friendly at arrival and even worst when I left: I asked if they could wash my daughter's milk bottle and she first said they only had a dishwasher so they couldn't do it, then a waitress standing by said that they did have washing up liquid but told me I should go and wash it myself.......and so I did.
As I have been in Bologna many times before, and I know there are many friendly B&B in much better locations, I would defenitely not reccomand this hotel to anybody and especially to people with children.

For our last day in Italy, I searched smth cheap and without breakfast, because we had a very early flight. I didn`t find anything to mach these criteria. Either it was very expansive(and without bk), or it had bk served after 7am. Finally, I found Astor. Sincerely, I thought it will be worse...but it was acceptable. At the reception, nice staff speaking English. We were given the room even if we arrived at 10 AM(much earlier than the usual check in). The room was not bad, with a little flat screen, clean sheets and a rather clean bathroom( the shower cabin had a massage facility...hahahaa..: spilling water around with the smart choice between boiled or freezing. Eh, the feet were in any case “well washed” by the water accumulated in the basin because of the defective pluming...). For France, this hotel could pass as perfect..... In Italy I've seen far better (in the 40-55 Euro range, of course).Other details : a chair was on the edge of falling apart under my daughter(a rather thin person), the bed-covers were stained(coffee...it seems..), every now and then a plane flied above making noise.. On a wall : a footprint. Who on earth would put his feet with dirty shoes on the wall of a hotel room?! What kind of animals are coming here???. Apart of the things above, for which the guilt is shared between owners and clients, the big problem of this hotel is the position: the shortest way to the railway station (15-20 min) is also a “tour” of a graffiti exhibition. Some graffiti are nice, but not the surroundings, filled with dirt, filth and excrements...There is also a longer way, through a maize of streets, and this one is ok. But it's not the hotel's fault for the bad place, isn't it?! .Someone of the staff ensured me that the area is very safe and that a unity of “carabinieri” is close. In conclusion: it is cheap. If you have + 10 Euro to spent, try elsewhere...If not, it will be ok for a night...

I stayed here for one night only and had a fairly decent time. I don't think I paid more than 40 euros for the room, but would have been disappointed if I had to pay any more. The hotel is a short distance from the city centre and train station - upon arrival I got a taxi from the station and was charged 9 euros. On the way back from town later that evening, the price was 7 euros (despite being a further distance..). The front desk were very helpful though in telling me about the bus into town (number 11 from just outside the hotel, for 1 euro each way). The only problem was that I couldn't find where to get the bus back from!

If I stayed in Bologna again (for sight-seeing), I'd stay somewhere more central. The room was quite basic, though had a small-medium sized LCD TV and good blinds which kept out light. The main lights in the room were a bit artificial - I couldn't put a finger on it, but they were those low wattage halogen ones which make everything look a bit depressing. The bathroom was quite decent, average size and good power shower. My only problem was the noise at night time - from inside the hotel. I don't know whether it was a one off and have no idea what was going on, but from about 10pm through until 3 or 4am, there was constant shouting somewhere downstairs. This had a chain reaction which laid to a couple of wailing babies in other rooms. So not the best night's sleep. If you can pick this room up for under £60 or so, then it's a decent deal. It also was one of the only hotels I came across in Italy to have a fully working air conditioning system.
