“Excellent location, great for weekend break”
Reviewed October 25, 2012

This small hotel is in an excellent location, just steps away from the Piazza Maggiore. Rooms on the small side but delightfully decorated, complete with mini-bar, kettle and an abundance of toiletries. Staff extremely pleasant and helpful, and an excellent breakfast. Would definitely stay here again.

Very positively surprised with this hotel – everything was excellent about it. Location is perfect, about 200 meters from piazza Maggiore, right in the city center on a small side street.
We seemed to have a special room – it was standard in size, but it was specially decorated – the walls and the ceiling were painted in lovely colours with funny pictures. A lot of cool pictures were hanging on the walls too. Very nice design indeed.

The room was of a decent size, not big, but good for a European city center hotel. Usual amenities, tea/coffee making facilities.

Both the room itself and the bathroom were very clean, everything functioned well in the bathroom – a rare thing for a European hotel! The bed was comfortable – we like hard mattresses – cushions were nice, there was a selection provided.

Service was just excellent, reception fast and efficient. Loved the taxi ordering processes: the receptionist just pushes a button and prints out an order confirmation receipt with the waiting time indicated.

Breakfast was box standard, but again way better than one normally gets on the Continent – small selection of cold cuts, cheeses, scrambled eggs, pastries.

All the public areas of the hotel were nice and well kept, Wi-Fi is free and fast.
The only slightly negative thing – and it’s by all means not a fault of the hotel – was the street noise at night. The street is narrow and so the sound travels like in a well.

Other than that - a perfect hotel for exploring lovely Bologna. It’s a magnificent, friendly and lively city, full of history, easily explorable by foot. The historic center is closed for traffic on Sat-Sun, take that into account if you need to travel those days – you might have a hard time finding a taxi.
We recommend a lovely local trattoria Mele in the building next door to the hotel. It is full of locals, which is always a good sign. Pizzas were great, service – lively and friendly.

Pricy but adequate apartment in the very heart of Bologna in side street of central Piazza. Large bedroom, small sitting room, OK bathroom and kitchen. No view. Adequately equipped. At this price, more charming accomodation is likely to be available. However the apartment is fine and the location is really perfect. Hotel has a parking (for a fee) and assists in access-exit.

Wonderfully clean. Perfectly safe. Smallish room. We would absolutely stay here again. Close to Piazza Maggiore and the main drag. Easy walk from the train station, or to great shopping and wonderful food.

I recently stayed 5 nights here with a group of friends. We all found the hotel to be perfectly located and very comfortable. Each room was decorated individually and quirkily which was fun and refreshing. The hotel was clean and the staff, for the most part, very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good however the coffee a little hit and miss. Considering the price I think that this is an excellent choice for a holiday in what I would describe as one of the most beautiful cities in Europe.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 207 (a little overwhelmingly red!) My friend stayed in room 106 - much quirkier an...

I had booked a suite/apartment online, I think on Expedia. The apartment looked nice online, but when we got there, it was beyond awful. You could not pay us to stay there. The apartment had virtually no natural light, and looked like what poor college students stay in-- furnishings and all. We immediately walked out and walked back to the lobby.

We were then moved to a room in the main hotel building, which was nicely decorated and resembled what you might expect from a Marriott in Europe. It was perfectly nice, nothing amazing, but certainly up to standards for this price. The location was excellent, just a block from the main square in Bologna where most tourists would want to stay. The lobby staff was also very accommodating.

The ratings provided in this review will be based on the room where we ultimately stayed, not the awful apartment.

Room Tip: Don't get an apartment. Ask for a room, and one that has windows you can see out of. Some room...

We stayed at this hotel in July for a family trip through Tuscany. The hotel is small but very nice. It has a good location, in the city center, walking distance to restaurants, shopping, plazas, etc.The rooms were clean and comfortable and the staff was courteous and helpfull. They had free wifi but it worked better in the lobby than in the rooms. They also had a large hot beverage machine were you could make your own hot chocolate, espresso, cappuccinos, etc.
We had an overall great experince.
