Formerly a medieval printing shop (the remains of the 13th c portico is in tact on the side of the building), The Art Corona d'Oro is close to the major sites in Bologna. There are a variety of rooms in the same category--some had coffee makers; others did not; Some rooms were larger than others but all were of good size and the marble bathroom was luxurious. The bowl of candy in the room was a nice touch. The breakfast buffet was good but a lot of the food was gone by 9: 30 a.m. even though breakfast was served until 10: 30 a.m. The staff (Maria, Giorgo) were warm and most helpful -- they even loaned us a Michelin map for our day trips outside the city. There were a number of good restaurants close by and walking was easy. The only downside was that the hotel is located on a very narrow one way street and GPS directions kept getting us lost when leaving and going to the hotel. Be sure to ask the hotel for specific directions and also instructions for how to call the hotel to lower the boulder at the small square before entering Via Oberdan.

This is the perfect location to stay to see ALL the sights in Bologna as well as a central hub to hit great eateries and street markets. EASY walk from the train station...right on via dell Indipendenza, left on via Marsala then a right on via G. Oberdan. "Happy Hour" treats are good with a cash bar if you want an adult beverage. Our room was fantastic...with air conditioning. Breakfast was excellent in classic European style. Highly recommend this friendly hotel.

Excellent hotel: rooms, breakfast, staff. We got into the limited area with our car, found the Hotel Novecento, the incredible woman at the front desk called her sister hotel HCO and arranged for our car to park at Hotel Commercianti. Great service.

We had never stayed in Bologna before and we picked the perfect hotel! Right in the center of the Old Town but far enough off the main road so as to be quiet and relaxing the Art Corono d'Oro was brilliant for two nights holiday in Bologna. We arrived very late on our first evening and I emailed the hotel to let them know in case this was a problem for check in. Upon arrival in Bologna I received an email saying this was no problem as they had a 24 hour check in and would be waiting for our arrival. Our room was very big by European standards and the marbled bathroom lovely. We were completely shattered the next morning having arrived around 1:30 am but managed to sleep in because of the great black out curtains. The towels were super fluffy (a major bonus in my book!) and the continental breakfast enormous and full of variety. They did attempt scrambled eggs, bacon, etc. however in Italy you just grab a croissant and black coffee and go site see. Staff were friendly and helpful. All in all a great stay in the centre of a lovely city.

First time visiting Bologna (absolutely worth exploring this magnificient craddle of Italian culture, off the beaten tourist path). Elegant, sophisticated decor for this unique property in the heart of the medieval quarters. The main building is a 13th century home. All our booking requests were fulfilled. Our room was a 'deluxe' on the second floor, on the small size but very comfortable. Lavish fabric upholstered walls. Quiet AC and a lovely bathroom.
Very nice breakfast buffet. Wide choice of cold cuts, cheeses, pastries, yoghurts (top quality), breads, fruits and cereals. Hot breakfast items could be improved. The breakfast room in the basement, however it features stencil painted walls.
Very nice "aperitivo" happy hour in the early evening. A beautiful hotel for those who appreciate a quiet, elegant environment and an engaging conversation about Bolognese history, art and culture with Giorgio at the front desk. Thanks

Room tip: Ask for rooms with balconies. The only walk-in showers are those in the accessible rooms.
