We stayed for a week in February 2013 in room 214. We wanted to renew our previous experience of Bologna 30 years ago, and travelled by train to Florence and Ravenna. We expected variable weather and indeed it snowed for 3 days, so it was great to be able to return to this centrally-located warm haven. The room was warm and comfortable and we were able to control the temperature. We don't like the current use of thick duvets in hot hotels so we were very happy with the bed coverings, and slept very well in the quiet room. The bathroom was warm and fluffy white towels replaced every day. We had a small balcony (Unused!) with a view of a tower. All the staff were very pleasant and helpful. The breakfast is a substantial continental buffet as would be expected in Italy.
As has been noted by many other reviewers the location could not be better, in a quiet side street but near the main piazza for shops, museums and buses. The many miles of porticoes helped us to stay fairly comfortable while exploring this beautiful city in the rain and snow and sun.

- Just a short distance from the two Towers and Piazza Maggiore, in the serene setting of medieval Bologna, you will find the Hotel Corona d'Oro 1890. Its peaceful location, just a hundred meters from the two towers, is the perfect base for your visit to Bologna: its elegant furnishings and magnificent frescoes, together with a staff that is exceptionally attentive to your needs, will make your stay at our Hotel unforgettable. The palazzo, which in the 15th century was the prestigious residence of the noble Azzoguidi family, traces its origins to the 13th century.
