“Good produce”
Reviewed September 30, 2012

Not the very top quality products (impossible at this price level), still definitely well above average. Coming from the UK, for example, the difference in the quality of tomatoes is stunning. We tried the osteria on the second floor, and the simple cuisine managed not to mess up the good produce base, so the end result was pleasant.

Good selection of beers and wines, with especially the wines extremely keenly priced. Service is cheerful and efficient, prices are right, the environment is crammed, the single toilet on the basement level is scandalous. Despite the negatives, far preferable to many a mediocre trattoria/pizzeria/osteria in Bologna.

“great place, good food...”
Reviewed September 15, 2012

Eataly is not really a restaurant, but its a new way of looking at food. The place is great (I went to the trattoria at the first floor) and it is located within the "librerie coop" where - before or after lunch/dinner you can look for a book, journals etc. etc.. It is not a posh place, but the ambiente is very nice. The quality of the food is good (we had yesterday a "winter minestrone" - which was excellent - and good tagliatelle with finferli/mushrooms). They have also a selection of quality food of all kinds which you can buy. I bought tagliatelle and a vegetarian souce (sugo di pomodoro con verdure) which was very good as well. At lunch time it is very busy so go early. The staff is friendly and the service quick. All in all a good place to go for a quick lunch/dinner.

“Browse the books, eat in the street”
Reviewed September 11, 2012

Casual dining, inside and out, but with attention to detail and food that is full of flavour. It ably captures the spirit of the Bologna, so abandon your prejudices and order a bottle of Lambrusco to go with plates to share.

“Good Food + Good Books”
Reviewed September 3, 2012

I just love this place. Three different kinds of restaurants are placed on different floors of this book store, all three with different specials, one as good as the other. The food is healthy and tasty and the choiche is wide, expecially when it comes to drinks. A must-try is the Chinotto, and surely some tigelle, which are a bit different from any other you can find in Bologna. One of the things I like the most is the bread they bring you at the table, it comes in paper bags and in three different kinds, all three soft and delicious, and if you don't finish it... Take it home! It's too good to be wasted! It's also the perfect place to go if every other book store is closed, perfect for busy bookworms!

Reviewed August 28, 2012

A nice restaurant with intresting food, however my partner ordered a pasta that was not boiled enough (we're talking pre al-dente), how can such a basic thing be failed?
