hotel located just in the middle of old town and close to everywhere. located at a small way which provides you silence. the most friendly and helpful personel i ever saw. as we stayed at the appertment part, we didn' t see the hotel rooms but our room is perfect for that price. i strongly recommend the hotel for bologna visitors.

Often we look for reviews to establish if anything is any good, well this hotel will not disappoint,we have just returned to the UK having spent time in Italy and also 4 days at Hotel Paradise, although ten minutes walk to the station take the Taxi as we got lost and with suitcases and the extreme heat not the best start, but hey we learnt to get the Taxi back not expensive 12 euros and very helpful driver too. The sights and culture are to be explored and you will do well either to purchase and read Bologna Reflections an uncommon guide by Mary Tolarou Noyes ISBN 978-0-578 or find it on the book shelf in the hotel as we did its an invaluable book with such detail and can be used as a guide almost like treasure trail. Its a book of a Mary an American who stayed and lived in Bologna to learn Italian and learnt so much of the city. Be considerate and leave the book for others to also enjoy.
Could tell you more but read the book it wont disappoint.
As for eating out as with all Italys food just great. We asked for recommendation and were told of a Trattoria go out of the hotel turn right and then first left, there is a picture of a black cat you can eat outside or inside, we wanted to eat outside but tables were full,so ate inside well the tables clothes were so pristine and the surrounding so pleasant and most of all the food was really really nice. Also at the end of the street when you come out of the hotel there is a supermarket well worth knowing.Getting back to the hotel pleasant staff, nothing ever to much trouble,English speaking if you cant manage Italian ,breakfast varied and really good,do not go expecting bacon and eggs, your in Italy. Rooms may not have views, but the scenery is in the city, air conditioning works extremely well.Enjoy your stay at a reasonable and affordable Hotel.

Room Tip: Take a room above the ground floor we had the second floor

We stayed at the Paradise for a week in June 2013. We were looking for a friendly, small and homely hotel in a central location, and this one fitted the bill perfectly. It's just a short walk from the railway station in one direction, and from Piazza Maggiore in the other.
The staff were absolutely lovely, and made us feel very welcome. The whole place was spotlessly clean. Some previous comments here have remarked on the smallness of the rooms, but ours (no. 205) was really spacious and comfortable. It's probably worth enquiring before you book if room size matters to you.
Breakfast each day was superb, with fresh fruit, cereals, pastries, bread, cheese and ham - and home-made cake! There are lots of little homely touches throughout which are great fun (such as literary quotations tucked in to the sugar bowl).
There are some really good, inexpensive trattorias within just a few steps of the hotel's front door, and just round the corner on Via Piella is the much-talked-about window on to Bologna's old canal system.
The only downside for us - and it wasn't too much of a problem - was that the bar across the road was quite noisy at the weekend. There was a couple with a small child staying at the same time as us and they found this quite difficult to deal with, so it's maybe not the best choice if you are travelling with very young children.
We loved this hotel, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone visiting Bologna.

We stayed for 2 nights at the paradise hotel. Our room was on the 1st floor and it was a little noisy, mostly due to conversations hapenning in the lobby, so I wouldn't stay on the 1st floor if you want to sleep in.
The bar in the lobby made excellent coffee for 2 euros including decaf. There is also excellent Gelato just up the street.
Breakfast was ok but there weren't enough bread or pastries, in fact none on our second morning (we were probably just staying with other very greedy guests).
The location is great and so is the service and cleanliness. The rooms are dated but they are large and clean so who cares!
