“Delightful, classical place in a perfect location.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 14, 2013

We spent one night only at the Art Hotel Orologio in Bologna. Our first visit to the city. We managed to get to the hotel, from the airport by bus, without any hassles. Situated in the centre of the old city it was a perfect location for all the sightseeing and restuarants. We were greeted by friendly staff. Our luggage was taken to our room. We were lucky enough to be given a suite with a view of the piazza in front. The lounge area, with a sleeper couch and ostrich skin ottoman, is a reasonable size. Complimentary small bottle of Prosecco with salty snacks to eat. The bedroom a bit tight, but one only sleeps there. Beautiful crisp white linen. Blankets in the cupboard. The bathroon was beautiful. Beige marble throughout. Lovely big shower with rain showerhead that had a blue LED light around it, that lit up the shower. Loved it. Seat in shower. No shortage of soap, shower cap, shoe sponge etc. Discovered the minibar and kettle etc hidden behind a mirror in the lounge. Smart! Well stocked. Breakfast was very good by Italian standards. Plenty of fruit, yoghurt, cakes and cappucino. A elegant/classical style hotel that has many fine touches and the staff all very accomodating. I look forward to my next visit there.

We recently stayed at the Art Hotel Orologio in May for 2 nights, and it was very nice. Located in the Piazza Maggiore it was perfect for everything we wanted to do in Bologna. We could walk anywhere we needed to go (even late at night), especially for restaurants, sightseeing..etc. The staff was very helpful, and it was nice they share a garage/private lot for parking our rental car. Having to carry your luggage up or down a flight if stairs to the elevator/lobby is kind of strange, but the room was very nice and quiet at night. Would stay there again if we ever return to Bologna.

Very historic hotel in the oldest section of Bologna. Close to everything, The staff were very friendly. The place to stay as a tourist and everything was in walking distance. English was spoken
The shower was a bit small and awkward to get into
Breakfast was excellent with fruit, meats, sweet bun,s yogurt. In the afternoon there were snacks ioff the dining area. The elevator started half way up to the first floor which required you to go up a flight of stairs with your luggage.

Room Tip: Try to get a room on the first or second floor. The first floor required you to go up two flights o...

Located next to Piazza Maggiore in Bologna this is an exceptional hotel with great service and wonderful breakfast. We stayed three nights here and would recommend it to anyone wanting to be close to the action. Piazza Maggiore is literally at your front step with the food shops and wonderful shopping at hand. The room was small but clean and comfortable with excellent service. The breakfast was fresh and bountiful with a buffet of pastries, cuts meats and toast, brewed American style coffee for those that have to have it and the staff were friendly and efficient.

Its the second time that I preferred to stay in this hotel. The staff very helpful, the breakfast adequate, the double bed very comfortable!Ask for a room with view in the front area.
But above all, the location is perfect, especially if you are visiting the city for a short stay!

Possibly the best location for a hotel in Bologna, right off the main square (Piazza Maggiore) and on the pedestrian area. The room was possibly a bit small, but very comfortable, nice, nicely furnished and quiet at night. Very good variety of food at breakfast and friendly staff and employees. Not a total bargain, maybe, but an excellent quality for the price indeed. Definitely, my first choice next time I'll spend a night in Bologna.

My husband was shocked when he saw only three stars, but this cosy hotel had everything we needed in a great location. The converted historic building is tall and narrow, so lots of stairs with a lift beyond the first floor. Our room looked out towards a small piazza with a Palazzo on the other side and a side view to the Piazza Maggiore. The main cultural and shopping areas were all around and we were there over a festival weekend, so it was very busy during the day. The hotel provided a sanctuary to retire too when we had enough, but we could then return to the fray when we were ready! The room was fine, with good TV channels for both children and sports fanatics. Breakfast was leisurely and buffet style, so we able to have a relaxing start to the day. Not bad value for such a great location either!
