Description: This charming family-run trattoria is one of those off-the-beaten path places that tourists would never find unless they had a recommendation from a local. The cuisine is traditionally Bolognese and delicious - all pasta is handmade of course - served by family members to patrons sitting at tables adorned with hand-embroidered table cloths. Wonderfully light airy dining area, slightly old-fashioned, not pretentious. I loved the food and the atmosphere, it is a favourite with the locals in this neighborhood slightly outside the centre of Bologna. I think that other visitors to Bologna would appreciate this trattoria, quite different from the mediocre and inter-changeable trattorias that mostly dot the tourist areas.

“Fantastic”

The food was excellent, clearly local, served with kindness. The price was fair. I will definitely go back there when I can. I recommend calling to reserve a table though.

“Another Great Restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 10, 2013

Great service, traditional Bologna food, nice atmosphere. Its a bit to far to walk from the centre - about a 10-15 minute taxi ride cost about 10 euros each way

“Excellent Welcome, Excellent Atmosphere & Excellent Food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 10, 2013

My wife and I dined at the Nonna Rosa on a Sunday evening on seeing a recommendation on a card left in our room in our hotel, the Suite Hotel Elite, just around the corner. We had probably one of the best meals we had had in Italy. The owner of the restaurant speaks very good English and when we said that we wanted a traditional meal from the local area he was able to give us good advice. We picked some dishes, on his recommendation, and when we ordered one dish each he said that the dishes were large and that we should share one dish between us and he was correct. We had three courses and we did not feel too full, just right. We also had two half litre carafes of the local wine at 7 Euros each and the wine was also very good. The food was superb and the service was excellent. We were the only Non Italians in the restaurant which was completely full of locals. If you intend to go there you should book.

“Simple place - wonderful food!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 22, 2012

This is a real gem, not so easy to find but well worth the trouble. We went back there two nights in a row and the restaurant was packed with people. Good service, good wine, very reasonable prices - strongly recommended!
